We had the good fortune of connecting with A’mi-chel-le Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi A’mi-chel-le, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
That’s a good one, the most difficult decision I have ever had to make was to leave my full time salary paying job to pursue my dreams of being a entrepreneur. I still can not believe I did it.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
It all started back when I was 17 years old just an regular employee at Taco Bell in my home town Texarkana my manager who is still apart of my life Shirley Hart saw something different in me. She gave me the tools and the necessities I needed to become a successful leader. By the time I was 18 years old I was a successful shift leader working my way up. After 10 years of managing other people businesses I knew it was time to step out on faith and grow my own business. While I had been a store manager at Dunkin’ Donuts for a few years I started my own business in the food chain right out my apartment. I never saw my business Kousin’s Potato taking off so fast but here I am now interviewing with you guys with my own food trailer and much more in store. I’m most proud of my growth as a person a business owner my success and being able to leave a Legacy for my children. Being an entrepreneur there are most definitely some challenges and I honestly get through those challenges first by praying for I am a firm believer, but I also look at my kids and how they look up to me and my guest and support system how my food and dedication make them happy. I also know that I have other people who have dreams and goals watching my story and success so I can’t and I want give up! Lessons I have learned is patients is the key to success and that no matter where you go people are watching so leave a good impact. I would love for the world to know that this is my testimony and they are living in my story with me, my story is far from over this is just the beginning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hummmmm that’s a good question, I am a country girl from a small city Texarkana Arkansas, so everything about the DFW excites me. We would kick off Monday with a bar setting over at shell shack it’s fun cool and laid back then Dave and busters Tuesday we got to keep it traditional with tacos at Fuzzy Tacos and pinstack and Wednesday hump day we headed to bread winners in deep Ellum and getting pampered at Nails 4 U to prepare for the weekend Thursday we shopping at the Galleria Mall and headed to deep Ellum to walk the strip Friday we have to go out to the Colony Andretti’s is a must when visiting. Saturday we getting extra cute and going to the Star in Frisco omg it’s so amazing out there. Sunday we got to visit The ANF Church and I’m going to cook us a big Sunday dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Always I would love to shoutout God who leads me and direct my path. I remember when my business was just a thought I shared one day with some close friends of mine at dinner Pastor Femi & Daphney Ayinde from that day forward they have prayed for my business and encouraged me along the way, They we’re actually my first paying customers. Shoutout to My village at the All Nations Fellowship Church, my Mother (Lisa Johnson), my Grandmother (Louise Bradley), My sister (Iesha Davenport), My close friend (Jordan Ford) & my best friend since grade school (Latrisha Hollins) she would always tell me cooking was my profession lol.
