We had the good fortune of connecting with Alma Leal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alma, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?

Finding balance between work, family life (especially as a mom), maintaining a social life, and managing a career in real estate can be challenging, but it’s definitely achievable! As I began my career in real estate, my little one was younger so being so flexible was not very easy at first. I had to adapt and readjust on how I wanted to run my real estate career. Real estate is definitely a 24/7 kind of job. Although , you may not have to start your day at 8am … you may end your day at 9pm. Whether it may be showings or meeting up potential clients , all of this things take up the day. Clients will reach out at any time or day of the week. Of course, now that my little one has been getting older it has been a bit more of a relief , giving me more flexibility and determination. Balancing the demands of a career in real estate with the responsibilities of motherhood requires efficient time management and clear boundaries between work and family time. Despite how busy my schedule can get, carving out time for social interactions is essential for my mental and emotional well-being. Whether it’s scheduling regular meetups with friends or attending networking events within the real estate community, fostering connections outside of work and family circles is crucial. Additionally, staying healthy is a priority, so finding time for exercise, meal planning, and self-care activities is non-negotiable. By striking a balance between work, family, social life, and personal health, real estate can lead fulfilling and well-rounded lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In the nascent stages of my real estate career, the landscape was undeniably daunting, presenting a multitude of challenges that tested my resolve and adaptability. From grappling with the intricacies of market fluctuations to establishing a clientele base from scratch, every day seemed to unveil a new obstacle. However, rather than succumbing to the weight of these challenges, I embraced them as opportunities for growth and transformation. Through perseverance and unwavering determination, I committed myself to continuous learning and skill development, seeking guidance from seasoned professionals and immersing myself in the intricacies of the industry. With each setback, I emerged more resilient and resourceful, harnessing the power of perseverance to propel myself forward. As I navigated the complexities of real estate transactions and forged meaningful connections within the community, my efforts began to bear fruit. Through strategic networking, diligent market research, and an unwavering dedication to client satisfaction, I not only overcame the initial challenges of my career but surpassed all expectations, emerging as a respected and successful figure within the realm of real estate. Proudly to say, I was awarded Rookie of the Year for 2023!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of we will go to Bishop Arts District and check out La Reunion for some great potato breakfast tacos y un cafecito. Bishop Arts has a variety of coffee places that we would check out through the week. Next stop would be the DMA. I love going the the Dallas Museum of Art to check out their limited time exhibitions. Their diverse collection of art spanning various periods and cultures, providing an enriching experience for art lovers and casual visitors alike. Since we would be right there we would make our way to Klyde Warren Park and enjoy the food trucks, and regular events like yoga classes and concerts that may be happening at the moment. Klyde Warren Park always have great events going on for the family, couples , etc. For dinner we would go check out Trinity Groves and even check it out during the day since the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is a walking distance from it all. I will take her to the Reunion Tower as well and let’s not forget some of our historical sites. Deep Ellum would definitely be on the list. And hope my best friend likes walking/hiking because we would go to White Rock Lake and Cedar Ridge Preserve to enjoy nature. I am sure she would be excited to see the panoramic views of the surrounding area, that offer a tranquil setting for outdoor adventures and exploration.
