We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Joven and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ally, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important thing I’ve learned through owning Alexandria & Co. is resilience. Some seasons are slow or challenging, and at times I lack the motivation to continue on with my business. But every time I’ve faced a difficult moment or a mundane season, I’m able to press forward because I remember my vision. My vision for Alexandria & Co. is that our brand would remind our customers that they are chosen, set apart, and beloved children of God. With each purchase, whether in person at a pop-up shop or online through our website, I hope that each customer experiences joy and love. When I feel discouraged, this vision is what helps me to get up again and keep going. I remind myself of why I started Alexandria & Co. and remember that God has equipped and empowered me to carry the hope of Jesus through my business. Remembering this often comes with motivation, a renewal of passion, and increased creativity which all help me to continue running Alexandria & Co. with joy and excellence.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets apart Alexandria & Co. from others is that each of our products is created and/or hand-selected and branded with love, intentionality, and purpose. Our products serve a deeper meaning than just becoming your new favorite accessory or piece of jewelry! The hope is that our products would serve as declarations of our identity found in Christ and help us remember who God says we are. Alexandria & Co. aims to share the message of Psalm 139:14 NIV, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” This verse serves as the heartbeat behind Alexandria & Co. and what I hope each customer walks away knowing and believing about themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place we would eat is Sip & Savor in Highland Village for a yummy brunch. Sip & Savor has the most beautiful atmosphere and amazing food, especially for a girls’ day out! Then, I would take my friend to Lakeside in Flower Mound so we can go on a hike along Grapevine Lake. For dinner, we would stop at Craft Pies for some pizza and visit Epic Gelato for some dessert! On another day, we’d start the day in Old Town Lewisville, where we’d start with brunch at Seven Mile Cafe and then go on an afternoon stroll. We’d make sure to shop at some of my favorite stores, Flourish Flowers & Gifts and Sparrow & Co., while we’re there! For dinner, I’d take her to Too Thai in Carrollton so she can try my favorite pad thai, and then drive to Snowy Bingsu in Flower Mound for bingsu and boba! My absolute favorite coffee shop is Edison Coffee in Flower Mound, and right now they are under reconstruction. But as soon as they open back up again, that’s the first place I’m taking her the next time she visits!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is no one more deserving of a shoutout than my mom and dad. They have taught me so much and have been great leaders in my life. They always support my creativity and my passions. They have believed in me and cheered me on since day one! I am better because of them.
