We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Cron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alison, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Imagination Station FTW helps the community because parenthood/caregiving can be extremely lonely. We’ve built a beautiful community where you can come as you are and we are able to share each others burdens and encourage each other.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a mother of two high energy boys and they are the inspiration behind our business. I was constantly looking for places to take them where they could interact and play with others and I saw that it was seriously lacking in Fort Worth and surrounding. I thought about starting a play space and then one night I had a dream that I did, by the end of that week I had registered our LLC and found a space to put our business. It wasn’t easy but I think failure to launch stops people from ever pursuing their dreams. I’d rather try and fail than not try at all. We actually just celebrated our one year anniversary at the end of October and that’s a huge milestone! I am still overcoming challenges but you have to take it one day at a time and celebrate small victories. I want to be known for my kindness and generosity and I want our business to be known for the same. I want people to be disarmed when they walk in our doors and I want to provide a safe space for families and children regardless of their race, religion, political affiliation, etc.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ohhhh, this is a good one! We’d wake up early Saturday morning and go to the Fort Worth Nature Center and Reserve for a hike. After our hike we would reward ourselves with brunch at one of my favorites-Fixe Southern House. Their lobster and crawfish pot pie is delicious!! After that we would go to Summer Moon off South Main for an iced mocha. We’d sit outside for a few hours and talk and then go to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and enjoy some art. For dinner we would go to Reata and we’d have drinks at Hotel Drover after and enjoy their beautiful patio.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t have been able to start this business without the encouragement and support of my husband, Philip. He is always there to support my dreams, no matter how spontaneous or wild! Also, our community is amazing and the constant support keeps us going.
