We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliayah Russ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aliayah, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m Inspired by my daughter she just recently turned one and at times when I’m feeling disconnected with wanting to even roll out of bed to do this thing called life mixed with responsibilities pertaining to my business she wakes up before me she lets me rest then before 12 she will come jump on me and get me to wake up I take that as her little way of saying “let’s get this started momma , you can do this wake up” And looking at her being able to not want for anything , waking up with a smile on her face and a full belly whenever she gets hungry it keeps me going. But not only just that it’s the fact I want her to grow up and not feel the way I’ve ever felt mentally wise I want her to be aware of all mental illness as well as breaking my own generational curses I’ve fell victim too starting with my own child and changing those she will grow up to be something more than even myself that’s who inspire me every single hour of the days
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Mental stability process is just a page I have up and running but currently I have switched the layouts and looking to start my own personal website that will be available in the bio websites of all my pages it’s to spread awareness on mental health and mental illnesses after going through mental issues myself and feeling alone about it especially in the black community it’s not really acknowledged mainly when it comes to our black Kings I wanted to have a safe space for people of all ages , colors and more that can come and learn more about not only themselves but others too this world need to acknowledge mental help more often than just the one month that we spread awareness by a little quote on Instagram saying you support it should be year round that it’s acknowledged because it doesn’t just disappear things mentally stay with us forever until we learn about it and learn how to handle it to make the days a little less harder than before. I started this to help others after not having help for myself .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas have this cool new spot in downtown dallas that’s like a arcade for adults it has 2 floors of games and drinks and music obviously it’s like a neon theme when you enter it’s just all around a fun place to be they also serve food but me personally nothing has topped LoLo’s ! The food is amazing it’s not in dallas exactly but it’s worth the drive it’s very popular so getting there early is very necessary the portions of food on one plate is crazy the drinks are amazing and leaving you would be ready to sleep before closing the car door ! Of course everyone should visit deep ellum just once before leaving dallas as well as 7 street in Fort Worth!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely have to give this recognition to my friends that have been pushing me to continue speaking up about my personal issues/experiences in life that has helped them secretly I had a period in time that I was so overwhelmed with speaking a little too much about my personal life on social media and my friends Diamond, TJ, Rosavelt and Daedae kept me pushing by not even realizing it because I hadn’t expressed my concerns or worries that I would end the mental stability process page / help they would just randomly send reassuring messages at the perfect time and some even pushed the idea of a podcast entering this journey so definitely be on the look out soon thanks to these amazing souls
