We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexzandrea Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexzandrea, how do you think about risk?
“Bigger the risk, bigger the reward” I do not like the “what ifs” in life. I rather not ponder about something that I did not do, or a risk that I did not take, then overthink about the outcome, no matter how big or small the reward would have been.

I’ve practiced taking risks, because the worst someone can do is tell you no.
But with taking risk, comes a level of expectation. I try my hardest not to build up these huge expectations in my mind, so regardless the risk I took, I wont have that sense of failure.

It’s more of an “ Okay, well that didn’t work.” Then I move forward and become better. But if the risk turns out great, and there is a huge outcome, then we all win in the end.

Taking risk has lead me into a deep sense of self awareness, and it also has helped me conquer my fears and to not be afraid of situations that seem to be “risky.”

You will be surprised how much you overthink situation, when all along it was all moving in your favor.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career in property management is was certainly a unique experience. Two colleagues, myself and a creative and eclectic CEO, built up one of the best neighborhoods in Dallas. We kept the integrity of the community, we almost hand picked at that time, every resident that was living there. That is what I loved the most!

Meanwhile I’ve overcome many of challenges in my professional career. I’ve have given myself lots of reality checks, and truly look in the mirror. Which took some serious talking to, making sure that I maintain my professionalism in all circumstances, regardless of how I felt.

One piece of advice, I can give…from someone who had made this mistake more than twice.

“In the heat of the moment, take a moment and breath! “. You’ll 100% respond more effectively than you would have of you respond to situations impulsively. There is never anything wrong with, taking moment to yourself, gathering your thoughts, then coming back to the conversation in a few seconds.

All things considered, as cliche as it sounds…. If I can do it, so can you. Growing up, hearing people say this was so interesting to me. Because, for a while when I was younger, I swore there was some secret to fulfilling your dreams, or some complicated thing you have to go through to get there. That doesn’t exist. It’s YOU. You are the only person standing between you and your dreams. It’s as simple as that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First place we’re going is to the Bishop Arts District. We can eat, shop, bar hop, people watch, be fancy and so much more, all on one street!

We would certainly get fancy and dine at Carbone. The food is amazing, the drinks are delightful.

Shopping at Northpark, never disappoints anyone! That is a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this portion to the executive team at Exxir LLC. They’re the ones that own and operate the Bishop Arts District. Everyone in that Coropate office, has supported me, motivated me and cheered me on, to my journey to Alexzandrea Eats. It is through working within such a loving, unique and supportive team, that I was able to explore my passions. One of the Vice Presidents and myself often had long, intense talks about our purpose. We asked and listened to what our passions were, what made us happy the most, what makes us different from the rest. I doubt if I would have had the courage to start A.E without such a supportive group of co-workers, bosses and residents, For that I thank them!
