We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexus Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexus, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say the absolute MOST important advice I followed that made me successful as a content creator is posting consistently every. single. day. It doesn’t matter if I felt like what I was posting wasn’t “good enough” — I would post it anyways, and it’s usually those videos that end up blowing up and gaining traction.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a content creator that specializes in User Generated Content (UGC), and I mainly post short-form videos about my life on social media such as Instagram and TikTok. I started this creative outlet on January 18, 2023, and I have been beyond blessed to have my videos become successful and touch the lives of many around the world these past 1-2 months. My growth has been astronomical and seeing my dreams come to life has been a truly beautiful experience. I am extremely excited to continue pursuing creative projects and collaborations with brands/businesses around the world and, most importantly, create content that inspires even more people.
I feel what sets me apart from other creators is that I am juggling content creating alongside being a full-time pre-PA student, a part-time AVID tutor, and a part-time Registered Behavioral Technician. I wholeheartedly believe that anyone can make time to pursue their creative passion if the will is there. Of course, getting to where I am today professionally took a lot of time and failure. I had always wanted to pursue content creating my entire life, but I only started when I felt truly ready, which happened to be this year. To me, I felt as if I started late, but I kept on telling myself “better late than never”. Learning to overcome challenges and obstacles was a part of the process and made me stronger in the face of adversity. With content creating and being an influencer, negativity and hate is bound to come, but I do the best I can to filter them out and focus on the most important aspects of my life — me and my loved ones.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love art and exploring more of my creative side, so I would take my best friend to the heart of Downtown Dallas and go to the Dallas Art Museum. Of course, I am also a woman in STEM so going to the Perot Museum is an absolute must as well. The Dallas area has a hotpot of many different cuisines and cultures; however, my personal favorite are Asian foods. I would take her to try Korean BBQ in Carrollton, local mom and pop shops serving Vietnamese food in Garland, or try a fine-dining experience at a sushi/ramen spot in Downtown Dallas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my supportive and loving boyfriend, Danny. He has been there since day 1 of every creative outlet I wanted to start, even if what I did ended up flopping.
For instance, back in 2020 when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with content creating, I decided to start a small business and craft handmade jewelry pieces. He bought every supply I could possibly need and helped me make the pieces when I struggled doing it by myself. My business ended up not being successful, but we were just grateful for the learning experience and kept our heads held high.
Now, fast forward to 2023 when I’ve officially started my content creating journey, Danny still never fails to support me and does everything in his power to help me succeed. As a content creator, I have many tasks to do throughout the day. For instance, I have to create and film content (the most obvious one), reply to the myriad of emails I get from brands wanting to collaborate, post across all of my social platforms, and more. Over time, the tasks I have to do builds up and causes me a lot of stress. Of course Danny sees this, and his first instinct is to problem solve. He recently offered to be my “manager” (free of charge haha), and now he handles all of the tedious work I have such as responding to emails and repurposing my content across multiple platforms. This has been a HUGE help, and I’m just so thankful in general to have such a supportive and kind human being to take on life with.
