We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success is the Black Women that I uplift & share with. A major goal of mine has been to help Black women see the beauty of their hair, & learn how to care for it. I feel like I’ve accomplished that in different ways, and I’m always looking to continue to spread much needed empowerment in the community I’ve built.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Speech Therapist, have been for the past 5 years and I work with children with special needs. About 5 years ago I started my YouTube channel & Instagram page centered around Natural Hair Care & Beauty. I love that my daytime work life is so different from my online work life. I am able to get the best of both worlds by being creative and on the other side use my education to help my clients.

I’m very proud that I’ve been able to work with some of my favorite brands over the years, and create content that I think is valuable. I’m currently working with Ulta Beauty on a year long partnership creating for them, and the brands they sell in store. This experience has taught me a lot, and I’m beyond excited to see the fruits of my labor.

I definitely wouldn’t consider my journey easy. I’ve been able to grow my online platforms by being consistent, and with countless late nights.
When faced with challenges, I’ve had to take a step back and remember why I started, and not get completely off track. I also take breaks when needed, and value my rest.

When it comes to my brand and story I want the world to know that if I can do it so can you. I put my mind to something and took the steps to achieve the things that I saw for myself. The amazing thing is that the things that happened along the way I didn’t even see coming.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
