We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Calderon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is important in life, and that’s what i do a lot of in my life/career. It allows you to just say why not? At times you might be afraid or shy etc.. Being a risk taker is you just saying why not and just putting yourself out there, ready for challenges. To not be scared of rejection, failure and all that. It’s helped me in my life because i say why not, and i go out and out myself out there. It’s helped me by getting out of my comfort zone and doing things others would be afraid to do. To live life, and to not be afraid of what the journey has to offer. The role it’s played and is playing is to never be afraid and to not care about what others think about you. You’re being a risk taker by doing what you love to do when most people are afraid to step out the comfort zone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like what sets me apart from other creatives is i know what i want and i get it how i want. My style is different because not only does it show you the artist, but it gives you a perspective on who they are, what they’re doing, and “in the moment” as if you’re there with us. I got to where i am at today by just working hard and never giving up, i’m not where i want to be but i will continue to keep working hard and to never give up because i will only let myself down. This journey has taught me a lot and is teaching me a lot. Some lessons are to just not be afraid, It won’t get you anywhere. Also to believe in yourself. You might have a lot of people believing in you but when you don’t believe in yourself, you won’t progress because you don’t think you can do it. I want the world to know i never gave up, and i chase my dreams no matter what. That i started off with nothing but i strived till i have something. I want the world to know that WxstedAlex is the one.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to pluckers, visit some cool shops in downtown dallas, and give them an aspect on how dallas really is.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends, my family and my supporters. I can’t name all but they know who they are. They deserve some credit because if it wasn’t for them supporting me i wouldn’t have been where i am today. They pushed me to keep going and with words of encouragement it’s helped me to learn i am on the right path.
