We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandro Chávez Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandro, what do you want your legacy to be?
My stories. I want to be remembered for my comics such as “O’CLOCK NOIR” and future worlds I create with my storytelling, because that’s the most important thing for me, making people happy. It’s amazing how much you can do when you propose new concepts, we need creativity in this world if we want a more peaceful society. Art and culture are powerful tools to bring joy and safe places for us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was a little kid I had this passion for writing stories, that’s when everything started. Three years after graduating from INBAL-School of Design in 2018 my dreams came true; 2021, what a year, I created my comic! So, my comic “O’CLOCK NOIR” is about time travel in Tape Di Noir, a world within a film. It tells the story of Alex, Amy Lady, and Shigeru as they travel through different film eras facing Bramus, an evil scientist duo and their minions the Nu-Vos. I’m really proud of my project, I put my heart on it, and you’ll find a lot of things that I love such as 80s pop culture, action, mystery, fashion, and cars. Of course it has not been easy, I’ve had to visit animation studios in US and Canada to show my comic, but I didn’t get any definite answers. The good news is that my comic is doing well on Amazon, so I’m happy, and the next step is to show it at comic conventions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dallas is an exciting city! Here’s my list:

1) Deep Ellum: A fantastic place full of art! If you are an art lover you will enjoy it. You can find great urban art, there’s an amazing robot sculpture, and cool restaurants and stores.
2) Giant Eyeball: This amazing sculpture is located in Downtown, you can take cool pictures. It’s mind blowing!
3) Reunion Tower: The most iconic building in Dallas. You can enjoy wonderful views from the observation deck and have fun with the interactive museum!
4) Dallas Museum of Art: A really nice museum. Here you can find ancient works from Africa, Asia and Latin America, and contemporary pieces by different artists such as Mark Rothko and Roy Lichtenstein.
5)Thanks-Giving Square: It’s such a peaceful park, designed by Philip Johnson in the 1970s. And there’s the wonderful Chapel of Thanksgiving.
6) Haas Moto Museum: Let’s talk about this cool museum! There is so much to see, every motorcycle has its own style, different decades of history, from classic to futuristic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my family, specially 3 women in my life: my mother, my aunt, and my grandmother, who just passed away on February 25th. They have always supported me, and that has been an important aspect because it’s not easy to be an independent comic book artist. Friends are also important in life, and I’m so thankful to have a friend like Benedicto, he is a priest and that’s really wonderful, in fact, he was the first customer to buy my comic on Amazon. I also want to express my gratitude to Mario Pons, my mentor in comic industry.
