We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandro Chávez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandro, why did you pursue a creative career?
It is so fulfilling when you create something. It can be music, content, products, stories, trends, you can do whatever you imagine; that is so amazing because you are communicating what’s on your mind!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So, my art style is really retro and colorful. As I have shared in previous occasions, my comic book “O’CLOCK NOIR” is basically a time travel story with a cinematographic touch, so I think that’s what sets my work apart from other creators because I love exploring graphic styles from different decades. 2021 was an important year in my life because I was introduced to the entertainment industry thanks to Videogames Academy, a Mexican school, that’s when I started to create my comic book. Then, in 2023 I got into the broadcasting world, and I have been studying and working at Ser World Media, a Santa Barbara based broadcast station. It has been a great journey, I never imagined having my own radio show, and the best part is sharing information about my favorite topics: movies, culture, and technology; that’s why I decided to call it TechCinema Cultural. My radio show is mostly in Spanish, but sometimes it’s bilingual when I have international guests.
I feel so happy and blessed doing what I love, and of course it hasn’t been easy. Basically I have been looking for new opportunities and different ways to show my work. Last December 2023 I arranged a meeting at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco to discuss about animation and films. The idea was to share this on my radio show, and the result was excellent! If you have a dream just make it happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, that’s a great question. Well, Dallas is an exciting city! Here’s my list: 1) Deep Ellum: this place, wow! Cool stores, restaurants and vibrant art.
2) Haas Moto Museum: such an incredible museum to see stunning motorcycles.
3) The Dallas World Aquarium: Talk about seaworld! This is a state of the art aquarium with breathtaking views.
4) Reunion Tower: Ok, this is the most iconic spot in Dallas. We are talking about a postmodern building from the 1970s and it’s really cool to see the city at night from the top.
5) Perot Museum of Nature and Science: If you love science, technology, and nature this is an advanced museum you must visit to take cool pictures!
6) Dallas Museum of Art: Dallas has cool art museums, from classic to modern, enjoy this creative place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my family, because they have always been there for me; especially my mom, my aunt, and my grandmother (rest in peace). Talking about mentorship I want to thank my teacher and boss Sergio Naveda and his wife Alma Rangel, they have given me so wonderful opportunities in the entertainment industry. I also want to thank Mario Pons for teaching me so many things about the comic books world. And of course, thank you God for giving me so many blessings like my friend Sergio Zamora who has become a very important friend in my life.
