We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To me, my business concept and writing skill has always been about empowering people. Since the day I entered the workforce, I’ve witnessed my peers struggle to show their value and articulate their ideas in writing.

It’s a challenge for them. And many times, a huge obstacle in their career or business progression. But lack of good writing in no way defines their skills, expertise, knowledge, experiences, and potential—yet it is a way that documents it.

For that reason, writing cannot be ignored.

I designed Write Me Proudly to be the solution non-writing professionals and busy business owners can use to overcome their writing roadblocks. Write Me Proudly is a full-service writing agency that spotlights the merit, worth, aspirations, and unique selling value for clients in written format.

I provide done-for-you copywriting, content writing, ghostwriting, and editing services. I help ease my clients’ professional or business journey by taking a heavy task off their already long to-do list.

And it really does work.

I’ve had clients who have landed greater sales by successfully presenting their business in an online platform. I’ve seen the press releases I have written garner attention from NBC and other media outlets, landing the story on a TV segment and, in another case, on the front page. I’ve seen professionals invited to interviews with their strategically written resume and cover letter and get the job offer.

Overall, I have seen my clients grow in their confidence when submitting their written materials to their respective audience. To me, that is the most rewarding part of my work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Even though my work focuses on business and professional writing, there is plenty of creativity that goes into it. My favorite part of writing has always been finding a way to connect the dots and discover a pattern—if there isn’t one, then I make a pattern.

There was a marketing email that I once wrote in one of my full-time employments that still makes me smile. It was for a university that was marketing their new online cybersecurity program to past graduates, and their mascot happened to be an eagle.

I wrote the headline “Attention alumni: Use your Eagle Eye to protect valuable data.”

Another time, when I was a high school professional communications teacher I had a student, named Miriam, who was running for governor in the student body race. She wanted me to help her come up with a slogan. We looked at the data and saw that there were more girl voters than there were boy voters.

So I suggested the slogan “Madam Governor. Miriam Governor.” And yep, she won.

I’ll give you one more example of creativity in business writing. Not long ago, I was writing the website copy for a new entrepreneur who was offering business strategy/marketing services. She had this formula for marketing that, when used as an acronym, spelled S.I.G.H.T. and her audience were women who had a business idea.

For her website headline, I wrote “You have the vision. We have the S.I.G.H.T.”

I’m sharing all this to say that creativity is everywhere, hidden in plain sight. As a professional, it brings me incredible joy to find it and shape it into something new, while presenting it in written form.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I, of course, will share a literary and culture-based itinerary.

First is the Bedford Public Library. This is the most impressive library I have ever seen. They have a grand children’s section, complete with toys, STEM kits, story time in their theater, and once, they even had baby chicks on display for children to observe. Plus, this library has monthly arts & craft events, plenty of private study rooms, make & take activities, and a seed collection for patrons to check out (you get to keep it).

Next, the Fort Worth Modern Museum of Art is always a delight. They have their collections to view, arthouse movies to show in their theater, plenty of educational programming, and of course, their lovely restaurant that serves delicious meals.

Last stop is Buon Giorno Coffee for a good cup of joe, relaxed atmosphere with mood lighting, and space to revel in some quiet time. This is in the West 7th area in Fort Worth, a short drive to Sundance Square where you can enjoy vibrant outdoor patios, brilliant water features, endless shopping, and your choice of final activity in close proximity, such as a comedy show, ice cream parlor, matinee, or jazz lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lately, I’ve been experiencing a lot of gratitude for my wonderful clients who allow me to bring my full self to our business exchanges—by that, I mean as a mother. I’d say the majority, if not all, of my clients have seen me in business mode AND mom mode at some time or another.

I’ve gone to a client meeting and networking event with my baby in tow, stroller, diaper bag and everything.

My kids have made cameo appearances in my Zoom video meetings. One time, my son was even throwing a fit. Another time, my daughter was crawling under my desk, blabbering away joyfully.

I have had to reschedule meetings when suddenly my kids are dropped back in my care for the day, like when they are sick or calling for their mama.

I work a strict 9 am to 4 pm schedule to coincide with childcare pick up and drop off.

In transparency, I shared with my clients both times I was pregnant. And, of course, my lengthy leave of absence when I had to take maternity leave.

Yet, my clients still stand by my side. They know I am a highly qualified professional and they are gracious enough to not let my personal responsibilities be a defined as a drawback. They value me both as a businesswoman and as a mother. I will forever be grateful for this.

I’d also like to shout out my husband who steps in to help whenever I am occupied with business matters. He’s shown his support time and time again. I’m thankful he pushes me to explore new opportunities.
