We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahan Mukherjee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ahan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2021, my close friend Srinivas Dhulipalla and I founded WeCare with a shared realization of the profound impact caused by the CoVID-19 pandemic. Given our interests in the healthcare field at the time, we felt a strong desire to make a meaningful contribution. However, it wasn’t until we participated in the PAVE program organized by Philanthropy Kids that our aspirations crystallized into a concrete plan.
We began our journey with a modest delivery of 50 care packages to healthcare establishments in the DFW area. Over time, we expanded our outreach to encompass various organizations, including refugee centers, schools, and homeless shelters. Witnessing the positive impact our efforts had on the recipients, we became even more determined to make a lasting difference.
Around seven months ago, we joined the Philanthropy Kids Impact Factory, a significant milestone for our nonprofit. This affiliation provided us with a dedicated bank account and valuable perks, enabling us to further expand and strengthen our organization. Recently, we grew our team, and are working towards much larger goals.
Approximately seven months ago, a pivotal moment arrived for WeCare when we became members of the esteemed Philanthropy Kids Impact Factory. This milestone marked a significant turning point for our nonprofit, granting us access to a dedicated bank account and a range of valuable perks. As a result, our organization has been able to take substantial strides in expanding our reach and fortifying our operations.
Building upon this momentum, we have recently bolstered our team, bringing in new members who share our vision and passion. With their expertise and dedication, we are now poised to pursue even more ambitious goals, charting a path towards greater impact and success.
This exciting phase of growth and development fills us with renewed determination and a sense of purpose. We are committed to leveraging our expanded resources, diverse talents, and collective energy to bring about positive change in the lives of countless individuals and communities.
As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to make a lasting difference and leave a meaningful legacy. By harnessing the power of teamwork and channeling our unwavering commitment, we are confident that WeCare will continue to thrive and make a profound impact on the causes we hold dear.
What should our readers know about your business?
WeCare is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities in the DFW area. We are proud to operate as a 501c3 fiscally sponsored NPO. What sets us apart from others is our unwavering dedication to creating care packages that are tailored to the specific needs of the communities we serve in the DFW area. We take pride in our ability to forge meaningful connections with partner organizations, delivering thoughtfully curated packages that address their unique requirements.
Our journey to where we are today has been both challenging and rewarding. Starting in 2021, we faced initial hurdles in getting our operations off the ground. However, we overcame these challenges through perseverance and a commitment to open communication. We realized that effective communication and establishing an organized online workspace were crucial in ensuring the success of our projects.
Throughout our journey, we have learned valuable lessons. We understand the importance of adaptability and flexibility, as we continually refine our approach to meet the evolving needs of our partner organizations. We have also discovered the power of collaboration and teamwork, as our dedicated team of over 10 individuals works collectively to manage various aspects of the organization, including finance, outreach, and fundraising.
What sets our brand and story apart is our genuine desire to make a lasting difference. We want the world to know that WeCare is not just about distributing care packages; it’s about fostering connections, supporting communities, and creating positive change. We are proud of our accomplishments, such as donating education-based care packages and over 500 books to Braswell Child Development Center, and we are excited about the future possibilities and the potential to expand our reach.
Ultimately, WeCare’s brand is built on empathy, compassion, and a commitment to improving the lives of those who need it most. We invite the world to join us on this journey and help us create a brighter future, one care package at a time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The inception of WeCare was undoubtedly unique, but the credit for the overall concept of practicing philanthropy goes to Amit Banerjee, the President of Philanthropy Kids. Thanks to the PAVE program, spearheaded by Philanthropy Kids, my co-founder, Srinivas Dhulipalla, and I were able to embark on the journey of creating a Non-Profit Organization while still in our teenage years. The program equipped us with a wide range of skills, starting from fundamental communication techniques like handshakes, all the way to more intricate abilities such as budgeting and financial management. It is safe to say that without the PAVE program and Amit Banerjee’s invaluable support, WeCare would not exist today.
Amit’s guidance and unwavering encouragement to maintain our ambition and optimism for the future of our Non-Profit has enabled us to positively impact countless lives. Through their various programs, including the PAVE program, Philanthropy Kids offers courses throughout the year that played a crucial role in launching our initiative. This organization is truly remarkable, as it inspires young people from diverse backgrounds to embrace the spirit of giving.
Overall, WeCare owes its existence and success to the original idea of practicing philanthropy, championed by Amit Banerjee, and the invaluable support provided by Philanthropy Kids through programs like PAVE. Their dedication to nurturing the next generation of philanthropists is truly inspiring.
