We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Cortes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, what are you inspired by?
Not views or followers for sure lol Most views people chase are mostly fake so there’s no point to be chasing views or eyes on social media. I know that’s coming out pretty hot out the gate, but I feel like people know that truth but choose not to accept it.
What inspires me is the pursuit of true creativity & art. That statement is a paradox, however, because is there such a thing as originality anymore? Although the close creative friends I talk to often think imagination is dead. Which is crazy to me, since we are so creative when we sleep, yet when our eyes see the world, we choose ignorance.
My inspiration comes from ideas that are 100% from somebody. I wanna see some weird art. I don’t know how to appreciate abstract art, but I can relate and understand emotions.
Most of my clients like their videos and photos standard as the industry goes; a few like to go against the grain and challenge with new ideas. But I need to create projects to showcase the creativity I can dive into.
I wonder if social media ended, would people still create content for a living?
I believe most people need gratification from others instead of their own satisfaction.
I’m not sitting here saying I’m different or better than anyone, I drink Bud Light and Happy Dad and love me some In-N-Out, but I am self-aware.
I wish for authenticity from the spirit.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Stop comparing yourself to others.
There will always be a better editor, a better photographer, a person with more money who has more equipment than you.
Control your emotions and spirit. Be a good person but be a better businessman (Women too shout out the XX’s out there). Be genuine, be honest, be humble, be excellent, but more importantly…be human.
You’re going to be successful, and you’re also going to fuck up. You’re going to get super highs and super lows. Any photographer saying, “I’ve always been good even my first photos were fire.” are clearly lying and full of shiet.
Don’t be the best photographer out there, be the best version of yourself. If you do that you’ll reach the pinnacle of ultimate success: business, family, love, finances, fitness, and community. I promise you, that success will transpire if you are the best version of you.
Fuck Tik Tok.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
