We had the good fortune of connecting with Addison LaBonte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Addison, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from a small town on the coast of Maine. I absolutely loved growing up in a town where everyone knows everyone. It gave me a really great sense of community. My hometown has banned chain restaurants, so every restaurant is a family business. I am so proud to support someone’s dream every time I go out to eat there. Growing up this way has greatly impacted the way I run my food blog. Connecting with readers and fostering those relationships is highly important to me. I do not want to be just another food blogger. I want to create a personal connection with those who read my blog and make my recipes. My goal is to create recipes that families make for holidays, birthdays, special occasions and regular rainy days. I love when readers tell me my recipes have become a part of their family traditions!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run a gluten free food blog. When I first started making gluten free recipes, I had a lot to learn. Through trial and error, I began to perfect my recipes. Starting a food blog felt like the next natural step, but I have little to no experience with creating websites, coding, and programming. I am most proud of taking the first step even when it felt scary and intimidating. Over the past three years of being a small business owner, I have not let fear hold me back. I am most proud of my faith in God, in myself, and in my abilities. My easy and healthy approach to recipes is what sets me apart. My recipes are great for families, home cooks, and people who have no experience in the kitchen. I want people to feel inspired when they are making my recipes!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A fun weekend in Dallas includes stops at my favorite restaurants and at least one sporting event! Breakfast at Snooze (love their gluten free pancakes), lunch at HG Supply and dinner at Honor Bar. Special shoutout goes to R&D Kitchen and their amazing menu. For fun, I enjoy going to professional sporting events. I love going to Stars games and Rangers games!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom is the biggest inspiration. She had a very demanding job in finance, but still made time for her family. There is no one more selfless, giving, and smart than my mom. She has supported me in every facet of my life, especially my food blog. I would not be where I am today without her!
