We had the good fortune of connecting with Ace Lahli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ace, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I believe risk is necessary for growth. Without taking risks, I don’t think you will fully realize what your true potential is. Risk involves stepping out of your comfort zone and I think that is one of the best ways you can truly grow. The role risk has played in my life is that it has shown me what I’m capable of accomplishing if I’m willing to go after it, which is exactly what I did when I left the corporate world and got into real estate. An opportunity was presented to me and I had two options; stick with what I was doing and continue to be miserable or take a leap of faith and do whatever I could to create my own path. I chose the latter and so far feel like it was the right choice!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I was a financial advisor years ago and absolutely hated it. I realized that corporate was not my thing and was thinking of what to do. One of my good clients at the time, who was more like a friend than a client, could see I wasn’t happy and gave me some advice that, at the time, was life changing for me. He said, “follow the passion, not the paycheck.” Long story short, I went from being in the financial industry to the fashion industry, working as a stylist. During my time as a stylist, I formed a relationship with a gentleman that is now my boss/team leader – Mark Cain. Mark would come in often and one day, I decided to go ahead and ask him what he did for work. When he informed me real estate, I told him I was always fascinated by it but didn’t quite know that path to take. He gave me a couple of programs to check out for my licensing and told me that if I did in fact get my license, he had a spot for me on his team. Fast forward a few months from that, I became licensed and let Mark know. His reply – “Way to go. I’ll see you on Monday, be ready to work!” The rest is history : ) The biggest thing I have learned, both while I was studying for my license and after I got it, is that we are all capable of accomplishing whatever it is we want if we really want it. I knew I wanted a change in my life and realized I was the only one that could make that change. That’s probably the biggest piece of advice I think I can give.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh the endless number of options when it comes to eat! A new favorite for me is definitely Drake’s on Lovers Lane. The Ozzy pizza might be the greatest dish I have ever had. I mean, filet mignon and pizza together?! Virgin Hotel might be where we’d go for drinks after dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family first and foremost for always supporting my endeavors. My clients because without them, I wouldn’t be where I am! Lastly, my team – Mark Cain Properties Group – for being the best colleagues and mentors throughout my journey in real estate.
