We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Blake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abigail, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
First balancing your work life and personal life can be challenging. Though a work-life balance does have positive effects. When I get to creating my schedule that works well for me I tend to think about the best way to achieve balance in my personal life as well as at work. I also think that setting some boundaries at work and home can also help. You have to make sure though with whatever you do that you try to take some time for your self.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would like to say it has been smooth, but the journey to where I am now in my business took a lot of hard work. I’m learning still every day with photography and that’s something I love about it. If I didn’t have the talent, I don’t believe my friends and family would have encouraged and supported me all this time!

I think what sets me apart from others in this same line career path is to just be who I am. I feel that if your just your genuine authentic self that is what draws people to your work and then eventually gets them to book and work with you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a little hard because there are so many places and things I have in mind. I think it also depends on the time of year. But I would go to the Dallas Arboretum, the State Fair and any sporting events or concerts that might be happening. Gosh, there are so many good places to eat but I guess a few of my favs where I would take someone would be Banditos, R&D Kitchen, Nick & Sam’s, Sixty Vines, Snuffers and East Hampton. But this list could go on and on..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give thanks to my family and friends. They have all encouraged me from day one when I told them I was going to take photography seriously to make a career out of it. I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today without all off there support and love throughout the years. I also have to give lots of thanks and credit to my parents. They have always supported me through my career and help me through any struggles that I may encounter. I couldn’t do it with our them!
