We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Pearson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I started the company with my business partner Christian when we were both 24 years old without any spouses or kids, which meant we could work on the company 16+ hours per day. We were in start-up mode and funds were limited, so we were not able to really get out and do much of anything else. As the years passed we both got married and I now have a two year old daughter, so time and productivity windows have shifted. I currently spend the first part of the morning at home helping my wife and daughter with their routines. I typically will get up an hour or two before they wake up to work on projects and then stay up after they go to bed to finish things up. As my daughter has gotten older I have started going into the office for about 70% of the work-day. I also now only work one to two Saturday’s per month for a few hours. I believe balance is a pipe dream, there are always going to be seasons in life. I may work some in certain seasons as I did in the beginning or work less as my daughter continues to grow.
What should our readers know about your business?
It has taken us several years to really niche down and determine who we are uniquely made to serve, but in the last 18 months it has been transformational for our team and company as a whole. We serve online clothing store owners and help them grow predictably and profitably. We have a unique system called the Ecomm Accelerator Process that we believe is the most robust strategy for clothing stores to grow today. Our story is a humble one, we started in an apartment that we also lived out of and quit our jobs with only a few thousand dollars in the bank and a dream to build something great. Hard work is the goal, we want to work on projects that really challenge us and our team.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would head to downtown Dallas for a mountain bike trek around the trinity followed by breakfast in Bishop arts. I would show them Klyde Warren Park and explore there before heading to Top Golf for fun and lunch. In the evening we would try to catch a professional sports game or visit Legacy West, Granite Park, or The Star.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It really does take a village to make a business work. I would say first and foremost my wife Brianna. She has been the biggest supporter of me chasing my dreams and she also supported me financially in the first two years so that I didn’t have to worry about making ends meet. I would also say that it almost goes without saying that my business partner Christian has played a huge role in the success of our company, without our right-brain, left-brain combination the company wouldn’t be here today. Lastly, but definitely not least are our coaches David and Conia Wright. They have challenged the way we do things, pushed us harder than we thought we could, and helped develop us into the leaders our company needs to continue to grow.
