We had the good fortune of connecting with Trey Diggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up listening to the music my parents played around the house I became obsessive in trying to understand how the music was being made. Whether it was the recording process or the sound selection, I was always fascinated with the “how” of music. Eventually leading me to The Recording Conservatory of Austin to study Audio Engineering/Music Production and later starting my own career in the Music Industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart the most I feel like is my versatility. Being able to produce, write, record, mix and master every song I’ve made all at the comfort of my home studio instead having to buy studio time and pay an engineer for all the things I can do myself has made it to where when the creative ideas are coming to mind I can work them out immediately instead of waiting for an open slot at a studio. For only having been releasing music for 2 years it’s been quite a journey, so many “this is the one” moments or “maybe this isn’t for you” moments but knowing that God is on my side, anything is possible and it’s all just apart of the plan. The biggest take away I want people to have when they listen to my music is the feeling. Whether it’s happy, sad, excited, or angry. Music emulates emotion. If you feel an emotion as you listen, that’s good art to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For sure go to Bishop Arts there’s so many cool things to do there. First stop would be to check out my favorite record shop in Dallas, Spinster Records. See what new albums are out or even buy some oldies.

Next would be grab lunch at Eno’s pizza, then chill at Whitehall exchange for the evening.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family are my biggest support system. Without the love and support they show me on a daily basis I would not be in the position I am today. Thank you guys. I love you.
