We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olivia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I honestly started this business on a whim. I was pregnant and almost due. I knew that I was going to have to leave my job for some time after I had my daughter, so the only thing on my mind was how I was going to continue making a living and provide for myself and my child without being able to go out and work. Hence, Aivilo D. Jewelry was born.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The versatility of the jewelry and accessories I make is one thing that sets me apart from others. I don’t have a specific style of jewelry that I make. I’m pretty much open to creating anything and I love the idea of creating pieces that appeal to all different types of people with different personal styles!

I especially love creating custom pieces because it challenges my creativity and allows me to tap into it even further to bring to life creations that I otherwise may have never even thought about creating.

I’ve always been more of the artistic type. From writing poetry and music, to dancing, to fashion design, etc, artistic expression seems to have always been my go-to and preferred form of expression.

I’ve also always been very spontaneous. Which, admittedly, has landed me in some pretty risky situations. But I also feel like that same spontaneity has helped shaped the way I approach and respond to every situation. It’s taught me, among other things, patience and self-discipline and control.

One thing I can say I’m proud of since starting Aivilo D. Jewelry is having the opportunity to be in retail when I was just starting out. This is something I’m super excited to get back into in the near future!

Over the years, I’ve put my business on hold and re-started it a few times. During the summer of 2020, despite being homeless due to the Covid ordeal, I re-launched Aivilo D. Jewelry. I was nervous, scared, and unsure if it was the right thing to do at the time, given the circumstances, but it was a risk that I’m proud of taking.

I’ve gotten where I am today by believing that everything will always work its way out for me (because it’s been proven time and time again that it always does), but also by ACTIVELY working towards fulfilling my goals and desires. I’ve learned that if you want something bad enough and are taking inspired action to get it, it WILL come. I’ve gained a greater appreciation for even the smallest accomplishments. It hasn’t always been easy. To be quite honest, it’s almost NEVER been. But I’ve learned that every experience is a learning experience and should be used as such.

I want the world to know that with Aivilo D. Jewelry comes passion. Passion is energy! Each creation is “Handmade with Love and Passion” and I want that loving and passionate energy to be evident in and felt through each and every piece.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, my little buscuit ( my daughter) deserves credit for the creation of my business. Aivilo D. Jewelry would not exist today without her birth and she is my number 1 reason for striving to build and leave a legacy.

I also want to give a special Thank-You to Rasheda Bell of R. Je’nee Beauty for recommending me for this series!
