We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Patton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
To be honest, I would’ve never encountered the amazing things that I have without myself taking risks. I call it quantum leaping, I’m a quantum leaper. My leaps of faith aka risks have allowed me to experience some of the jaw dropping once in a lifetime encounter. Met people & gone places that I would not have prior. It most importantly has introduced me to a part of myself that I had no idea even existed.
Being brave enough to take risks wasn’t my ability to trust in others or even myself as it was my faith in God and having confidence in his plan for my life. When you are brave enough to take risks in life and in business, wonderful new opportunities begin to open to you. Even when you quote on quote “fail” after taking risks even in business it is still a win for you in the sense that it allows you to obtain new and necessary information. information that you wouldn’t have had, hadn’t you taken the risk. Success also comes from the knowledge of knowing what doesn’t work. Failure is simply “information” that would not have been obtained without taking a risk. The Risks taken in my lifetime even in business has placed me in front of great men and women and allowed many opportunities that I wouldn’t have otherwise had.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Owner and proprietor (Ms. Tiffany Patton) began three years ago with a more modest look and feel. As she began to evolve, she noticed so did her vision. Reestablishing herself spiritually. She found a newfound love for herself & realized that she had been living life through a very skewed lens. Through the eyes of others even. It became apparent that she had been shrinking to make others feel good.
As our original candle line had a more standard look & feel. Patton, however, didn’t despise the small beginnings. The clarity of her vision came not only from her love & affection for candles but the desire to see others being the fullness of who God has called them to be. There is great power in allowing your individual light to shine, says Patton.
When asked about the unique spelling she stated that Ener- stemmed from the word energy for which most things are the source from which power flows. As for her & her evolution of self, self-love & brand came from the true energy source. For her is …God.
From that point on, Enerlight Candle Co. was rebirthed. The relaunch of the company in its third year (candle maker-first year business) we wanted to make sure that our line reflected not only the evolution of the visionary but the importance to present the diversity of beauty, brilliance & excellence that illuminates us all through her luxury candles. Using beautiful glassware to display the most tantalizing and infectious long-lasting fragrances that not only inspires but infuses tranquility into every home and office.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Belle isle- our own beautiful, owned island, the DIA, the Motown Museum, the African American Museum, dinner off the water at Joe Muers or the Roostertail. One of my most favorite places to eat are Eddie V’s and Que’s kitchen, one of the best vegan restaurants around!! The Highlands restaurant provides a beautiful scenery of not only Detroit but our neighboring country Canada all while eating your most favorite dish or renting one of the local area bikes and just taking a stroll down through the vastly emerging downtown Detroit area! Fastly emerging into the city to enjoy as once known. but there is no experience like enjoying any of your favorite music artists perform at the incredibly beautiful waterfront concert venue, The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre, my most favorite part of Detroit! Nothing like enjoying beautiful summer weather while listening to your favorite artist with the beautiful waterfront as its backdrop. Lastly, Mackinac Island, simply breathtaking.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to recognize my daughter Cassaundra. My constant motivation to never give up in anything that I have ever ventured to do. My desire for her to see all things were truly possible by keeping faith in God, continues to fuel me to keep going. To witness her fearlessness in how she operates in her life, is what encourages me on those difficult days. She has been my biggest cheerleader & sacrificed some of her desires for my vision. I am eternally grateful to have been blessed with such an understanding & beautiful daughter. Secondly, my sister in Christ. Stacy Hudson gave me a life changing pep talk and since that day I haven’t looked back. Thank you Stace! Lastly, my pastors Keith & Bernadette Hudson, I thank you for your constant love and support. For being a constant example of consistency in Christ. For seeing the call on my life and always willing to cultivate it and for encouraging the entrepreneurial call that I have upon my life. Thank you!! You all along with the loving memory of my mother and grandmother have been the wind beneath my wings. Finally, to my dear father Samuel Patton, thank you for giving me that relentless tenacity. I love you and appreciate you dearly.
