We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan T. Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan T., we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
It’s important in life to understand that taking risks is the only way to really grow in your life/career. It can be broken down to the simplest form of choosing a house to trading in stocks/crypto. We as business minded people have to constantly be thinking of new innovative ways to strength our future. In fact, taking such risks throughout my own life have brought me to find joy having created a production company to make movies and music.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Actor, Writer, and Producer whose mission is to create meaningful projects that serve purpose.
Determination, is the main word that comes to me from people I work with, and I agree with them. I’m a firm believer that if you truly want something in life, you make time for it, you find ways to make it work, and you don’t give up.
At times, I find it hard for me to fathom how I got to where I am in life because I simply forget to enjoy it. I tend to find myself so focused at the task at hand, in addition setting up leads for the next project. But in the simplest form, I researched day and night of how to break into the film industry. Now my heart is with acting, but I knew early on I needed to do more in order to break out, so I learned to write, then learned to produce, and so on. I still remember the first projects I did and it’s great to see progress.
Some of the challenges I faced doing this was at first the lack on experience. It’s always easy reading or watching about someone going through a similar problem. But it’s not until you undergo your own dilemmas do you really see the growth.
In fact, some of the problems I faced doing my first project was, funds, understanding scheduling, casting, crew, gear, and so on. I spent countless hours researching after working full-time to save up money. But in the end, it was all worth it.
I’ve learned countless lessons since then, the main one being, “just do it”. As cheesy as that may be, we get caught up trying to make everything perfect when it’s not possible. There is not perfect algorithm to do everything right, you just have to be passionate, and a little crazy, to let go and do it.
The main thing I would like people to know about me and my team is that we were born to serve the Lord. He has given us gifts to create, to dream, and to guide. And through his grace our goal is to shine light in an ever so dark world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It’s hard to pick a single spot to explore as I see the world in film. Every restaurant I go to, every street I pass, and ever room I sit in, becomes a story in my head. So typically my favorite spots change as each project I work on influences it.
Currently, I would love to take anyone visiting me to areas that aren’t so popular, open fields, mountain tops, hidden trails, as these places tend to feel peaceful.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is hundreds of people I’d love to thank! Every single person in my life has guided me to where I currently am.
I would love to shot out of course my parents and family as they have been supportive of everything I do since day one.
In addition, I want to give a shout out to my team as we work day and day out to grow within out passions. Corey Cannon, Sharon Oliphant, and Nick Schroeder.
