We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Le and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanna, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been drawn to creativity. Filmmaking, writing, drawing, crafting, dancing, songwriting… they all captivated me from a very young age. I would go through so many different phases where I would be inspired to randomly learn a form of art I never really noticed before. I would spend hours, days, even weeks just practicing and working on that project or type of art. And although I mainly focus on film now, I still try to pick up as many different skills as I can and use them both professionally and in my personal projects. As I grew older, I became passionate about using my voice and talents to help uplift and inspire others. I realized I could use the arts to tell meaningful stories and bring awareness to important issues. And when I was in my early teens, I began to see the arts as more than just a hobby. I started to see it as a career.
Now I know that this is what I want to do. And in fact, I’ve already started doing it. Working in film and media has honestly been a dream come true for me. It combines so many different types of skills and is such an incredibly powerful and in-demand form of art.
I hope to continue working hard, improving my craft, and gaining more experience so that one day I can help lead a major motion picture, tell the stories I’m passionate about, or maybe even start my own production company!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what’s unique about my art is the fact that many of my stories stem from experiences that are very personal to me, and I pour a ton of hard work, dedication, focus, and passion into each project to tell those stories as authentically and meaningfully as I can. I’m still very early on in this journey. I still have a lot to learn. I still have so much to discover.
And, to be honest, I simply cannot wait to see what the future has in store.
I’m going to be majoring in film and television production and will be attending college next year. I’ve also got several different projects in the works and will continue searching for new challenges to take on.
I’m incredibly honored to have already won several awards for my films and also to have been able to publish a novel, work as a freelance artist, do videography for major corporations, be part of the Pegasus Media Project team, and much more. It wasn’t easy, but every day I pushed myself to dream big and work hard toward my goals… and ultimately, it’s paid off. I’ve learned so many valuable lessons from pursuing this career and I hope to share them with other young artists like me.
I want the world to know that it’s never too late or early to begin doing what you love. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, you can always make a difference with your voice and your art. As an Asian-American woman, I believe it’s incredibly important to uplift the voices of marginalized communities, empower the storytellers of tomorrow, and shine light on the topics that are important and meaningful to today’s world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many fun things to do here in DFW! I would probably take them around Downtown, grab some iced tea at HTeaO, and relax in one of the many beautiful parks that you can find here. There are some really cool landmarks and historical sites to visit, too.
We could also go see a production at North Texas Performing Arts, watch a local musician, or catch a movie at one of my favorite movie theatres such as the Angelika.
The list could go on and on… but no matter what, chances are there’s a little bit of everything for everyone here!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many different people that I’m grateful for, and I honestly couldn’t be where I am now without them. First of all, I’d love to give a big THANK YOU to my parents and my brother. They have always supported and encouraged me to work hard, dream big, and pursue what I love. My brother (and sometimes even my parents) often starred in my first short films. On top of that, being homeschooled allowed me to spend more time working on filmmaking and being creative. Homeschooling also helped shape me into an independent thinker and learner.
A few others I want to thank:
• The Pegasus Media Project and The Pegasus Film Festival. I’m so honored to be the 2022 PR and Social Media Manager and I’d like to thank you all for this opportunity. I’ve met so many wonderful people and can’t wait for everything to come!
• The amazing and talented Crowhollow SMP Team. I’m a YouTube Partner + Twitch Affiliate content creator and the founder of the Crowhollow SMP – a fantasy Minecraft roleplay series featuring an incredible story and cast of characters.
• All of my friends and everyone I’ve worked with who constantly support me along this journey!
Thank you all so much!!
