We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Olsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, how do you think about risk?
I was risk-averse for most of my life due to the fear of failure. I put off a lot of things I wanted to do because I was scared of the unknown, of what people around me would think, and honestly due to expectations of what success is. In my mid-twenties, I realized that I could not continue to live that way. This started a series of changes that have changed my life for the better. At the beginning of the pandemic, my husband and I decided to sell our house in Omaha and move to the DFW area. I started working part-time as a social media manager as a creative outlet which led to me doing it full time. I quit my corporate job.

Life is too short to not take risks. My thought process now is “what’s the worst that can happen?” If for some reason something doesn’t work out I know I can change paths and learn from the experience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently, I am a Social Media Manager and work on my own content in the Fashion and Beauty space. I always wanted to create content but was nervous about what others would think. When I quit my corporate job to become a Social Media Manager full time I decided to take my personal content creation seriously. The hardest part is just starting. I am most proud of the relationships I have made online through my social media. I hope to continue to cultivate friendships with followers and other creators in the space.

I strive to create content that is real. No filters, no perfect life, just genuine to who I am. I love sharing fashion tips and styling videos that mix high and low price points. I want people who follow me to know they don’t need an endless budget to look stylish.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take my friend to Vivian’s Boutique for a facial. Nothing beats a girl’s day with brunch, Aperol spritz, and a good facial. We’d drive over to Deep Ellum after for a spicy marg and queso fundido at Vidorra. I’m a huge sports fan so we would dedicate one day to either a baseball or football game and tour the stadiums. For a full Texas experience, we’d make our way to Fort Worth for dinner and drinks at The Drover.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my husband for being my #1 cheerleader. He has been pushing me to put myself out there for years and now that I have he has been encouraging, supportive, and someone I can go to when I need to get constructive feedback. I truly don’t think I would’ve created my YouTube channel if it weren’t for him believing in me and encouraging me to do so.
