We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business is driven by a personal passion to educate people and empower them to take control of their health. As a teenager, I witnessed a family member struggle with poor health. This person was given multiple diagnoses, medications to mask her symptoms, and even underwent surgery but she was never taught how to heal the body and restore it to good health. The experience was frustrating and tiresome for this beloved family member, and watching her struggle made me question common approaches to healthcare. Subsequently, what I witnessed, pointed me on a journey towards better and more informed ways of healing. Fast forward a couple of decades, and now – through significant education and training – I make healthy living accessible to my community. The more I work with clients, the more I realize that my family member’s story was not unique. Before coming to me, many of my clients felt like their health concerns weren’t heard or taken seriously. Even worse, I have clients that felt blamed and belittled for their state of health. My goal is to uplift individuals and teach them how to thrive. As a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, a certified Herbalist, and a certified Live Blood Analyst, I help people get to the root of their health concerns.

When it comes to taking charge of one’s health, many people feel overwhelmed and they don’t know where to begin. I can help alleviate that stress, as I guide my clients on their journey, offering support and encouraging them along the way. And in the end, healthy happy people make for a healthy happy community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I love helping people feel better! Most of my clients have hit a brick wall when it comes to their health. They have typically already tried everything and are not getting results. My job is to do the investigative work for them, and help them identify the healing opportunities for their body. I started my holistic health journey off as an herbalist. While this taught me the science behind plants, and gave me an understanding of how to help someone’s symptoms naturally, I wanted to know more. I felt that to truly help someone, I needed to understand what was really happening inside of their body to cause their symptoms in the first place. This lead my to Live Blood Analysis and eventually Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. I am now able to use blood analysis and functional lab tests to help my clients get to the core of their health issues.

I offer a variety of services for clients based off of their needs. Some of my packages include 3 months of ongoing support, guidance and encouragement. However, that is not always everyone’s desired route. For someone starting out, they may prefer a stand alone 30 minute blood analysis.

I would say the most challenging part of this industry, is just staying current with the information out there! Science progresses so quickly, and it is exciting to stay a top the newest developments in natural health. It is important to me to continue educating myself to better help my clients. With that being said, there is definitely a fine line between staying in the know, verses getting caught up with the latest health and diet trends. I want my clients to be able to understand what they as individual’s need without having to sort through all the ever changing health crazes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends are in town, I definitely have to take them to stock up on snacks at the Sunflower Shoppe in Fort Worth and then go enjoy a picnic by the Trinity River. The Water Garden is also such a unique, peaceful attraction and everyone always enjoy spending sometime there. For dinner we’re probably headed to King Tut on Magnolia. (My favorite place to eat in town) If we get to adventure beyond Fort Worth, I like to go shopping at the Painted Tree in Mansfield. We always have to stop by the Eterna Health Food booth! Cleburne has a lot of fun antique shops and specialty stores to visit. Plus, it’s fun to make a stop at Family Nutrition Center for a freshly made smoothie. Finally spending time in Waxahachie is always great, I recommend getting a delicious, lunch at Ann’s Health Food Store.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am forever grateful for the health food stores in the area. The amazing people at the Sunflower Shoppes in Fort Worth and Colleyville, Family Nutrition Center in Cleburne, Ann’s Health Food Store in Dallas and Waxahachie, and Eterna Health Food Store in Mansfield have not only been excellent partners with my business, but also great friends and mentors.
