We had the good fortune of connecting with Georgette Bird and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Georgette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to decide how and where I spend my time. It is important to me to have the opportunity to make as much money as I want. All of the full time jobs I had in the past had caps on my earning potential and you could only earn raises as a small percentage of your yearly income.

I was tired of following other people’s rules whether I agreed or not. I wanted to be able to schedule my days and evenings to accommodate not only my clients but also my family’s needs.

I was tired of having to ask permission to take days off or to get off early. I wanted freedom and to make more money.

As a little girl I saw myself “ruling” the world and inspiring others. I lost that vision for a while but it stayed with me throughout the years deep down inside and it ate at me until I decided to change it; get my Realtor license and as of last year, start my Real Estate Team.

I want to inspire my agents to do what is best for their businesses and teach them the steps to succeed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The vision of the Bird Nest Team at Core One Real Estate is to be a leader in the real estate industry providing all clients a professional experience with a personal touch. We build lasting friendships and fulfill dreams. To show that Real Estate, Apartment Locating, Commercial Real Estate is important now more than ever before. To be the best version of ourselves that we can be so that we can be a blessing to all those around us. To keep God our center so that we always walk in the favor of God.

Our purpose is to have a strong team with a large presence in the real estate industry. We take a “team approach” – work together so that our clients benefit from our strengths and receive a concierge level of service and care. Together we deliver exceptional personal service making the real estate process a memorable one that our clients want others to experience.

It has not been easy but it has been worth it!! I had to overcome several obstacles including marketing to earn my client base and making it steady; without a lot of money. Some days just to get out of bed was rough, especially after a deal you needed fell apart and to press on.

I have learned to be overly detailed and to be sure you are dotting your I’s and crossing the T’s. Each day I service each client with all of the resources I have and to give each one an experience that they will want to refer all of the people they know to me and my wonderful team.

I want everyone to know that my team and I will tailor their Real Estate experience to their needs and that our team is not a cookie cutter type that has one size fits all experience because each client is unique and their situation should be treated as such.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my husband for reminding me that I can achieve the things I desire. After my lay off in 2015 – he encouraged me to do what I have always desired and to work on earning my real estate license. He advised me to take a bit of time off to do so. If it wasn’t for him, I would probably still be working 9-5 in Property Management as I had done since 2009. The great thing about it was, at that time, we were only just dating a couple years. He is truly my rock and my reminder each day to keep moving forward.

I would also like to say to Amber Boyd, my Broker for answering each one of my calls when I had a million questions, looking over my first offer contracts to make sure they were filled in their entirety and that I was representing my clients needs and wants to the fullest of my capabilities.

And God for giving me the gift of knowing and reading people so I can find my clients the best home that fits their needs and wants.
