We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyshia Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyshia, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I am a single mother of 4, so me starting my business was solely because of the need to be in control of my own schedule so that I can have more time available for my children’s needs. Prior to starting my business I worked a full time job plus overtime that required a lot of time away from my children and now I have more flexibility in my schedule. This has definitely created a better quality of life for my family and It’s important to me that I show my children not to limit themselves. That they can be and do anything they desire.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What was meant to be a little extra cash on the side turned into a full fledged business that started in Kansas City, Missouri in a small area of my home and quickly moved into my 1st salon space. At the the time I only offered eyelash extensions, certified through NovaLash, and I also worked a full time job. Being a mom of 4, running a business and working a full time job definitely took its toll on me so I knew eventually I would have to let one go and it wasn’t going to be my business as that was my only hope to a better quality of life for me and my children. I struggled with clientele so I invested in other services to add to my business but I still struggled. For years I began to set my sights on a bigger city, Dallas, and larger market for what I offered but was scared to leave my job where I felt secure. I finally lost my job in 2019 and figured there was no better time than now to transition my business to Dallas as there was nothing holding me back. It was challenging. For a time I was servicing clients in both Kansas City and Dallas until my clientele picked up. I even drove Uber when I wasn’t booked, left my own private suite for a hair salon to get more exposure, on top of being in the middle of a pandemic. Eventually my business picked up and I took a leap of faith to be back in my own private suite in Plano. I am a 3x’s certified eyelash extension artist, I also offer skincare and hair removal services with makeup coming soon! My business is not only about offering a service but it’s about uplifting women along with making them feel good about themselves. That’s the most rewarding part of what I do. I never imagined I’ll be running my own business let alone starting over and being successful in a new City. That’s why I don’t take for granted this position I’ve been placed in. I give my best self and quality work every single time every client and that’s what sets my business apart from the rest. This journey has taught me that sometimes things don’t go as we planned. There is never a right time and perseverance, prayer and faith may be all you have but keep pushing and never give up no matter how it looks!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I would definitely have a week planned of excitement. Day one I would take them to the Galleria Mall for a little shopping , ice skating and we would have lunch at my favorite seafood spot Shell Shack. The next day I would plan to go Spa Castle and have a day of getting pampered with massages and a few drinks in the pool area. We would end the night at Vidora in Addison for taco Tuesday or any place in that area. The next day I would take them to North Park for a little luxury shopping and sight seeing if the art there. Visit Pappadeauxs for lunch or dinner. On Thursday maybe find a gun range and another seafood spot at Red Claws. Also take them to Shops at Legacy to do a little more shopping then eat at Benihana. We would go get corn at Fuel City and walk the Margret Hunt Bridge to watch the sun set. The next day we would hit up Deep Ellum for some great food music and drinks and Uber from place to place for the most fun. Saturday I would have reservations for The XO Room and get dressed up and take pics. And finally Sunday Funday we are starting early with Church at North Colony Church of Christ then brunch in Uptown are. And afterwards go to a day party in the surrounding area like Clutch

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to shout out God for making all this possible. For the gift and the mindset to push throughout the toughest of times. For surrounding and connecting me with other business minded women that I learned a lot from through my journey. And most importantly for my clients support that keep my business running. I also have to give my friend Brandi Thierry a special shout out for opening up her home to me during my transition to relocate my business to Texas and for all her encouragement along the way.
