We had the good fortune of connecting with NVRMND and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi NVRMND, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor in any and all success is both hand in hand consistency and originality. Sticking to what you know and applying that in the evolving times. With my music I feel like keeping my own sound and continuing to evolve myself rather than reproducing a popular sound or image is what gives me the edge. Look at an incredibly profitable business like McDonald’s, that has stood the test of time, with the same fries, nuggets, and burgers at the base of their menu. While newer “more exciting” places come out every couple of years and have established themselves but never washed away or tainted the legacy of the franchise. Being original allows you to find your niche which then makes you necessary. Being consistent gives you the platform.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Cliche I know, but creating a enormous music brand is my biggest dream. My music is truly and extension of myself and some of my most personal thoughts and feelings that I never express in words. I believe that the raw honesty in my sound is what truly sets me apart from most artist these days and will make me a lasting brand for years to come. Chasing this dream though, has definitely been the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. Each challenge almost seems more difficult than the last and the obstacles seem endless. I have over time learned to see the beauty in this cycle. Every obstacle comes with a lesson and with each lesson you begin to realize that you are one step closer to your end goal. Learning how to operate as a LLC rather than just an artist has probably been one the biggest lessons I have taken with me. If there was anything at all I would want people to know about NVRMND is that there is no team and I by myself create and design all of my music, covers, websites, merch, videos, etc. You can do anything.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course the spots like Deep Ellum and Bishop Art District just to give them the “culture” side of things. As well as the At&t performing arts center and the Dallas Museum of art. Personal favorites are places like Half Price Books, the Bomb Factory, Snappy Salads, Smoothie King, Fuel City, or any South Dallas BBQ. My favorite tattoo spot Bold Stroke.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God, my parents, my sister, runforthehillsrecords, Darrell Thomas, my old history teacher Coach Martin, and any and all supporters.
