We had the good fortune of connecting with J.P. Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J.P., what do you attribute your success to?
This is probably going to sound cliche or even a bit cheesy, but the most important factor behind my success lies in how I take care of my clients. There are several real estate photography companies in DFW, and it can be tough to compete, so I have to put more focus on treating every client as though they are my ONLY client.
I make it a point to go above and beyond to deliver not only great images to my clients, but an amazing overall experience from the level of communication, to the ease of delivering images, to following up after the shoot to be sure that they are satisfied.
Sometimes I feel like Jerry Maguire out here with Rod Tidwell as my only client left. I have to put all of my attention into that one client’s needs or else my business goes under.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business, Mostly Media, is a real estate photo/video company serving the Aubrey, McKinney and Denton areas. We provide magazine quality real estate photos, beautiful video walkthroughs, 3D tours, aerial images and more.
I attended film school in 2014 with the hopes of getting to work on a big film set one day, but that never really panned out. However, I did see the potential in the real estate market for someone with my skillset, so I jumped in. I soon found out that my skills with a camera were not nearly as important as my skills of communication. That’s actually been the most difficult part of growing my business since I’m quite introverted and like to keep to myself.
Now, I have the help of a virtual assistant and a great editing team to help my business continue to grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, most of my friends know that I am an avid fisherman. Over the years, I’ve travelled around my area to find obscure bodies of water and have found some great honeypots that I love to revisit over and again. A great weekend for us would be getting out early to find a great campsite somewhere, starting up the fire, grilling some marinated chicken and beef for lunch, fishing and then busting out the kayaks for a bit. Then, relaxing in a hammock for a while and then chilling by a fire before going to bed.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two individuals that have been great partners to work with and have cheered on my business. The first is Angela Souder from SWA Interiors. I originally met Angela through a Facebook group, as she was needing someone to do some photos of her interior designs.
At that time, I was just trying to network and get my name out there and find people that I could create working relationships with, as well as build up my portfolio, so I offered to come out and to the photos for free. Angela was really easy going and does great design work, so it was easy to get great photos for her. Now, we work together regularly and have a great working relationship.
Secondly, is my friend Shelyna Tinglin. I met her through a mutual friend, and she wanted to announce to the world that she was joining a new brokerage, and she wanted to do it in epic style. As we began working on her video, it was clear that we were both movie buffs, so we hit it off instantly! Since that day, she has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and has helped me book several new clients and real estate photo gigs.
So, to Angela and Shelyna, if you’re reading this, I’d just like to say “Thank you”.
