We had the good fortune of connecting with Retta Bright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Retta, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a creative person. It started with poetry & writing short stories in 3rd grade. Now it’s matured into creating products and advertising for my businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Brown Suga Bebè is a small-batch personal care company. We specialize in all natural solutions to common problems of the hair, skin, nails & hygiene. What sets us apart from other companies is our dedication to our customers. Each Bebé is different and important in their own way. Because of this, we try our best to personalize each Bebés experience to provide them with what they need. We’re not in the business of just getting sales, we want to offer the best solutions at the best value. I believe that is what has carried my business these last 2 years, my Bebés love me & I love them back. It definitely wasn’t easy, but nothing great has ever been created from ease. I’ve learned that in business, you may love an idea, but at the end of the day it’s not about you. It’s about solving problems for the consumer.

My grandmother, Alfa Retta Jackson spent many days mixing these same products for her children & grandchildren. Now the same recipes she created to save us from spending too much money will help her great grandchildren & future generations to come.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Alfa Jackson, my grandmother. She is the reason I am who I am today. She taught me everything.
