We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I saw the writing on the wall. The economy was taking a huge downward spiral and I knew my current position wasn’t going to be around much longer. I had to find another stream of income. I did some balloon twisting for the adoption agency. (I had to have the instructions to make the balloon animals in front of me) I saw an ad on Craig’s List for restaurant balloon twisting and decided to apply.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As in any start up business, it takes consistency. I’d love to say that we developed a new trend in balloons, but we didn’t. We just continued to work hard and do the best work we could do. We went to multiple trainings to become better at our craft. I think most importantly we worked with other local Balloon Artist. We have resources to handle larger jobs and events because we were willing to work together.
I started working in my garage, we now have two 1000 square foot workshops and a small van and 15 foot truck to make our balloon deliveries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place, isn’t in my current city. It’s Myrtle Beach, SC! I love the ocean and Myrtle Beach is like my second home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was very fortunate to have fellow balloon artist as mentors:

Troy Harper had been in the business for more than 20 years and we worked together assisting each other with events. Troy was instrumental in helping me develop my skills; however, I will always remember his best advice being to always be on time, customers will forgive almost anything but being late for their event.

The company Balloon Party Service was also instrumental in my development and were always available to answer questions and offer services when needed.

Victor’s Balloons, Face Art & More, Mike the Balloons Man, Sashes  Events and  Archer’s Amazing Balloons have been life savers after Covid.

My son Emmanuel, joined the team and his innovation helped to lead the company to a new level. As I look around today, I see his fingerprints in every aspect of the company. Since Covid he has had to find other secure employment.
