We had the good fortune of connecting with McKinney “WorkHorse” Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi McKinney “WorkHorse”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
First off I want to start off by saying “Long Live Chef Dot!” My mother was a Chef and recently passed away due to Incompetency of the University of Mississippi Medical Center! And we are getting prepared for a fight!
My mother had her own brand of chef knives which we recently launched together under my entertainment label which is Monsta Entertainment LLC.
Her website is chef-dot.com , I would like everyone that’s reading this to go to her website and purchase a superior kitchen to the rule replace all of the knives that you have in your kitchen!
Now let me get to the meat of the question why did I start my own business? I wanna ship is important I want to ship is the only way to true freedom understanding ownership and understanding with true freedom is is the only reason you should go into business because I want to your own business and understanding your business working your business will give you freedom and open doors to other opportunities.
The importance of ownership should be taught in every household especially in the black and brown communities
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nothing worth having is easy.. and the path that I have taken to get to where I am today was no different. Literally blood sweat and tears over a lot of years. I’ll take a lot of “L’s”, but I have learned from each one of them and got better after each loss. But within each loss I always find small victories learned something it made me better made me tougher to move forward to the next time. Yes I must admit there were plenty of days that I wanted to quit but I wasn’t raise like that! I was raised to fight for what you believe in, move forward and at least try and most importantly once you start something, you got to finish. move forward keep going keep Slabbing is the most important thing I want people to know and understand about me and my brand King of The Slab. No matter what obstacles that I hang your way you have to find a way to finish and keep rolling. Rolling to your job is done!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Currently I live in Dallas Texas well, Mesquite to be exact, Whenever my friends come to town I want to show people out, I take them to Moxies uptown in Dallas. It’s a lot of cool spots here. It’s like I’m always on vacation when I go out
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yeah many people that I would like to thank for supporting me encouraging me advising me and pushing me along my journey I may miss him and to know that I don’t call my name just know that I missed you and I apologize. First off to my mom rest in peace baby she was a big part of pushing me and encouraging me to move forward and to go towards my goal and strive for my dreams. My dad BluesMan Mckinney Williams he’s important part of me understanding ownership especially in music I want to shape of your music is the most important thing that he ever told me as for the music business do you want to be a owner.
