We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricardo Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricardo, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My life and my welding business is a 24/7 thing. Even though I work 24/7 I always have time for my family. I believe family comes first always no matter what. My children always have question about my business. If I’m working on the weekend they always come out to come bring me lunch we sit down and eat wherever I’m working. I then show them what I’m doing or what I’m making. I like to show my children that anything is possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a mobile welder that makes it easier for my customers to get fixed what needs to be fixed on the spot without having to come to me. while my customers do have the option to bring what they need to be fixed it makes it easier for some because some of the things they need to be fixed can’t be brought to me. I believe what sets me apart from other companies like mines is that I’m straight up with my customers. If you ask for a break down on the price I will gladly give you one. If I think it would be cheaper for you to just buy a new one rather than you have me repair it will also tell you that upfront. I’m proud of how far Del Fabrications and Repairs has came in such little time especially during this pandemic. I took a huge risk to get where I am now. I wasn’t very sure if this was the right move during this time, but honestly when is it ever the right time to go out on a limb and start a business? In the beginning I wasn’t getting that many calls and when I did get calls some people thought the price was too much. I did get discouraged a little, but I kept advertising my business and eventually it started to pick up. Through this process I learned that there are customers that are willing to pay your prices and there are some that aren’t and that’s okay. I would like the world to know that I’m not stopping here! I will continue to advertise and grow my business no matter what! Giving up will never an option and only you can push yourself to reach your goals!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take him to Texas de Brazil. I think its an awesome experience and I love the steak. We would also visit Burgers Lake for a swim. I love that its a fresh water man made lake. I’d take him out for a night on the town and have some drinks in Deep Ellum. If it was a Saturday I’d have to make sure he got some of my favorite tacos from my favorite taco truck Tacos Don Lucho in Red Oak.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my whole family. My wife Joanna Gallardo, I love you, thank you for everything, for always having my back and letting me start my business. My mom Janie Delgado and my dad Guadalupe Hernandez Jr. for always telling me you only live once. THANK YOU DAD! I know you not here with us now, but I thank you everyday for making me the man I am today. My uncle Juan Barrera for always telling me to go for it and start my own business. My kids Adaleena, Ricardo III, and Nancy-Jane for understanding when I have to work all weekend. Everything I do is for them!
