We had the good fortune of connecting with Stassa Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stassa, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Being that I custom laser and design things, the idea for my business actually came from me wanting items made the way I pictured them in my head. I was running into a lot of things that were always very similar to everything else available. Having the opportunity to design and build all sorts of things has been a freeing and profitable experience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So what sets my business apart from others is the fact that everyone always has an idea but I have the ability to bring it to life. When approached with a random request I deliver. My customers not only get what they want, it is also great a quality and affordable. “Customized with you in mind” is not just a slogan for me, it is truly how I operate my business daily. I encourage anyone to just visit the website, they can see great customized items. This is only the beginning.

As a side note along this journey I have realized that you have to be willing to put yourself out there. In my case I had to move out of my way to allow others to see me. I used to overly criticize everything I touched, now I focus on creating and workmanship and it has done wonders for my growth both personal and business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t get out like I used to, you know #ttoddlermomlife but when I do here are few options I recommend: Eat – There is a fun spot in downtown Roanoke called Oak Street Food and Brew. They have 8-10 different restaurants with shared seating. It is the ultimate “I don’t know what I want to eat” spot. First stop is always the Hot Potato for the Brisket, Mac & Cheese Potato.
Drink – The Twisted Root in downtown Carrolton is the absolute best. Not sure if my fave bartender is there anymore – pandemic and all – but you can always count on a fun time and unlimited drink options. I always ask for something blue.
Hang – My vibe is so low key these days that I really prefer the House of Blues in downtown Dallas. Catching a Ari Lennox, Bazzi or even Wiz Khalifa show there is super chill. Or you catch me at the house.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout goes to the Ladybugs (you know who you are). This wonderful group of ladies help me grow in my business and motivate me when I need it most. I can honestly say we make each other strive to be our very best because iron sharpens iron.
