We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had worked for a known salon in Dallas for several years, and as an independent stylist renting space at another salon. I wanted something more; I wanted to build a business. I wanted to have a salon where people would love to come because they knew they’d feel terrific about themselves when they’d leave.

What should our readers know about your business?
Figueroa Salon started in 2014, and there have been ups and downs along the way that have only made us better. The last year especially has presented a lot of challenges, but we have actually thrived coming out of the pandemic. We’ve been lucky and we are very appreciate of the clients who have supported us over the last year and throughout the years.

Figueroa Salon always wants to provide the service to its clients. Therefore, we constantly seek innovative hair techniques and products so that we can offer our clients the best hair services. We provide continuous formal training to our stylists, and invest in the salon so clients want to be there.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love taking friends and family visiting to all the great neighborhoods in Dallas – Deep Ellen, Bishop Arts, Knox Henderson – to eat and shop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a lot to my family who have believed in me and made me who I am. I also have a great business partner who took a gamble on a 29 year old and allowed me to realize my dream of owning my own salon. I have terrific friends who support me during good and bad times.
