We had the good fortune of connecting with Shraboni Bhowal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shraboni, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Like any other industry, there are lots of things in the Art industry which people are not aware of. for example, I can tell you when you see any portrait or painting which you like or dislike and if the artist changes a couple of his brushstrokes your perspective will change, it takes only a couple of wrong brushstrokes to destroy your painting. What I mean to say is even though some art may look very easy but each artist and art has its own journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I moved to the USA after my marriage I became a homemaker due to visa constraints. Gradually I started painting and crochet to keep myself busy and it became my passion and I taught myself to excel in what I was doing. And when people started to acknowledge and want to purchase my work then my passion took a turn and Shraboni’s Art Gallery was created. I do customized acrylic and oil painting based on my client’s requirements.  The proud moment for me was when my paintings were selected in different galleries like Nuu Muse, Visual Arts Guild of Frisco (VAGF), Visual Arts League of Allen(VALA) for exhibition.
During my initial days when I started painting to keep myself busy with painting and crochet instead of binge waiting on Netflix and my urge to excel in what I was doing helped me a lot to reach where I am today. When I started Sharaboni’s Art Gallery I was afraid to create my own collection as I was afraid if people don’t like my paintings and I am not able to sell any. I took the risk and created my own collection and started selling. The fear I had helped me to improve myself day by day and I keep on learning every day to improve my work. Back in India before my marriage, I was working as an Android app developer and then became a homemaker and then gradually became an Artist whose paintings are displayed in different galleries. To keep my mental sanity in place was a big challenge for me and keeping myself optimistic was really tough. At some point, I was just holding myself together with duct tape and glue to keep moving forward and today I am happy.
It is very tough for me to maintain an equilibrium between my work and personal life. It was tough during the initial time when I started dedicating my time slot for my work, gradually my daughter and husband adjusted with that. Most of the time I work late at night as during day time I have to take care of my daughter. I don’t think I have a balance right now it is going on based on everyday priority.
The only thing which I learned from my experience is that doing something is always better than doing nothing, you never know when the time will change in your favor, you just have to push through the downtime to see new sunrise.
I do want people to remember me through my art, when they read or hear my name they should remember the painting which they love. Whenever I work on any project I get attached to it and give my best, I would love it if people can see the connection and emotion in each painting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to show them Dallas Arboretum, Fossil rim, Trinity Bridge, uptown drive, and Lewisville lake. I love cooking so will prefer to cook for them for hangout I like BJs and Velvet Taco.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Apart from my hard work, I am thankful for the support which I get from my spouse and my three-year-old daughter. I get my motivation from them.
