We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxx Calzz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maxx, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I believe the principle that matters the most to me is accountability. A person has to be accountable for their actions and the situations one place themselves and others in. I believe any person or individual that has any type of responsibility can relate to having to be accountable for their actions in one form or another.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My first love of art is in the music realm. I just enjoy just creating music. It truly is a joy bringing something into existence from nothing. The collection of sounds that can be used to create come from everywhere in everyday life and some that only truly exist in our heads. It is a form of art that is eternal and can be enjoyed by everyone for as long as they keep the song alive.
I enjoy music so much that I went to school for it at Mediatech Institue in the Recording Audio/Visual Arts program become a certified audio engineer and then continuing my education at Fullsail University in which I studied Audio Composition & Business of Music. These have helped me move forward in my career by having the knowledge to use and combine combining the full spectrum of knowledge that I have gained in and out of the classroom.
After music, I spend most of my time in the gaming & digital creation world. I am a live streamer on Twitch, in which I stream video games. I plan to introduce more content on the site in the future including music tutorials and a “just chatting with viewers” show. Check it out.
The road itself to get to where I am today was not easy but using skills learned along the way, I have created several avenues of income that allow me to sustain my way of living by working for my dream and that is one thing I am most proud of. I own my time. There is just something about waking up and being able to go hard for you. I’ve gone hard for others with little to no recognition, never again.
A few lessons I’ve learned along the way are to always go for what you want. Do not wait for it to come to you because you may be waiting forever. Also, make sure you do your best to communicate what you want to the universe and work toward it. Anything anyone else does for you should be extra. The last thing, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!
What I want the world to know about me is I’m Maxx Calzz, The Coolest Nerd. I make good music, I do good business, I’m always willing to learn and grown and I plan to be around for a long time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend come to Dallas, I would take them to only the spots they could eat in Dallas and no other places. I usually invite some of the friends to come down during the time of the state fair so they can experience that joy and some of the most delicious food you can fry. We definitely have to hit Rudy’s in South Dallas, Norma’s would definitely have to be a spot we hit for breakfast. I’d take them to see the Trinity River project, some local Dallas landmarks, maybe check out the Dallas Aquarium and Perot Museum if we have some time. Dallas is vast and we could have fun just checking out the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to send a special shoutout to my parents who gave me the knowledge of being true to myself and instilling the hustle mindset, meaning don’t wait for it. They taught me you must always be willing to go after what you want.
I’ve read several books that I really enjoy but some I would recommend are “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki, “Who Moved My Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson & ” Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. These are good reads I think everyone should check out.

Nice job…Go get it!
Proud of you son! Blessed is our status and remember to give God the Glory for his blessing. Without him we can do nothing, but through him all things are possible. As for me being your Dad, there is nothing that I can be more prouder than you as a black man striking out on your own and doing the things that you love and are dear and near to your heart. It should also place pride within yourself Andi it is showing. Great job son, continue to push forward and and seek Gods guidance. Love you son! PROUD DAD!
Inspirational! Love to see Dallas artists thrive and embrace their creative side. Great read. Thank you!
I watched Maxx grow and elevate over the years as an artist and creator in general, even taking on the task of helping with a couple endeavors of my own. Keep going!
