We had the good fortune of connecting with Bria Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit even while working for other companies. So it was honestly a no-brainer when I was given the opportunity to full-time with my business (thank you COVID).

I always knew that I wanted to be a clothing designer, but I always thought it had to be an “either/or” or a “not at all” decision. Either I was going to be a customs designer OR I was going to have my clothing manufactured; and now my business is a combination of both.

I’m very thankful that I didn’t allow my “absolutes” to take me off the course of pursuing my dreams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Fashion Designer, it can be a very tough industry to be in as you are always competing with new and fresh ideas. I knew that I needed to solve a problem in order for people to feel compelled to support me in business. After being in business for almost a year, I’ve finally landed on a business model that works well for me.

I’ve always been between the world of customs and ready-to-wear and so I’m finally taking the plunge and combining the two. I think women will enjoy this new way of shopping that I plan on introducing very soon.

The most important lesson that I’ve learned from being in business so far is that you’re going to make mistakes—privately AND publicly—but it’s how you respond and come back from those mistakes that shows your character.
No one is perfect. Businesses that have been established for YEARS are making mistakes today.

Most importantly, I want my brand to be known as one that really sees women for who they are uniquely created to be. 3125–The Label is a Customizable, Luxury Clothing Experience made for women who are created on purpose, for a purpose! I feel like that speaks for itself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a frequent visitor of Dallas myself, I’m always looking for new places to try when I’m in town. I love looking for small and local businesses to support.

My sister and I are both foodies. Since she’s a Dallas resident, she always has new places for us to try. One of our favorites (and I mean I have to go here every time I visit) is Ricky’s. It’s a Nashville Hot Chicken spot and the food is delicious.

I also really love Soirée. It’s a Black-Owned Coffee shop.

If you’re feeling a little fancy, Pangea is a great Black-Owned restaurant to try out for brunch or dinner.

If you’re looking for a day out, the Arboretum in East Dallas is a great time.

If you’re wanting to see some art or learn some history, The African American Museum of Dallas is a great spot to land on as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom and my aunt are huge pieces to my story. I watched my mom, Bettina Evans, juggle being a full-time wife, mother, educator, and chef growing up. It gave me the push I needed to go after my dreams as well.

I wouldn’t have been introduced to fashion had it not been for my Aunt Georgia. She’s spent a good deal of her career designing beautiful costumes for various productions as well as sewing amazing quilts.

They say “it takes a village,” and that’s certainly true for me. My family and friends root and rally for me like no other.
