We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Spain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Having integrity and holding myself to a higher standard are what makes Shots By Spain successful. We never know who is keeping a close eye on us and I always believed that I should carrying myself as if someone was watching me at all times. I like to give 110% into every single project that I do and it drives me to reach the results that I desire.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Shots By Spain is a photography and video business that specializes in studio, candid, portrait, and music videos. Shots By Spain is known for exceeding photography needs. As a company, I’m proud of the fact that I value the customer over anything else in ensuring that they feel comfortable in a safe space. What sets me apart from others is actually connecting with the people I work with to ensure that they love and enjoy what they get.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to see this abandoned castle and a lakeside drive I know about, the waterfall in Sampson Park, Magnolia St., Inspiration Alley, the Stockyards, and 7th street. We would eat at Kincaids, El Mil and Nicky D’s. I would take them shopping at 817 Vintage Hype and Connections (shoe store).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the help of many people. My mom and dad, of course supported me the most the last couple of years. My mentor Joe and his wife Selena, who have provided me with the resources and encouragement to keep my business growing. My two bothers Ezekiel and Jawon, who have been a part of my team and have help me out tremendously. The Direct Connect Music Team for pushing me and helping me get better at my videos. My Uncle Brandon Reed and the Train Station. My uncle taught me a lot about how to run a business. He taught me how to brand and market myself and how to stand out from competition. And all the amazing people that have booked with me. Especially the clients who have booked with me time and time again.
