We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth Sikes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenneth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It actually started back when I was in high school. I used to day dream and play out my life in my head like a movie. I would day dream of me starting my own label and being a popular rapper out my city with my own squad. I went from day dreaming to actually believing to actually being a business owner

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is my life. Sometimes you may hear some of my music and it sounds hardcore simply because someone made me mad that day so I had to let it out then the next song you may hear me talking about and praying to God. So a lot of people get confused and call it contradictory but all it is is me working through my emotions. At one point I tried to put it in a box, my art I mean because in a season of My Life I was going so hard in church. but the problem with that is when I’m down and wanted to say screw the world I couldn’t say that in Christian or church rap. A lot of people don’t get my music or don’t get me because they want us to either be a gangster rapper a conscious rapper or whatever they put titles to it but gangster rappers cry and get sad as well but this world we live in and the fans want us to stay and believe that we are specifically one way not knowing that we are humans and have different emotions and up and down just like everyone else. I’ve learned when it comes to music especially hip Hop is best to just be authentic and speak how you feel regardless who agrees with it or not it always works out in the end it may be hard at first but in the end being who you are and speaking on how you feel helps in so many different ways in your own personal life

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a simple guy. I find the best times kicking it with friends and family but downtown and parts of south Dallas is the heart of the city in my eyes

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna dedicate this to my father. He literally wanted success for my career and fought for it more than myself
