We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamaya Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamaya, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I stayed consistent! I’m consistent when it comes to making my products and how often their stocked up, I respond to customers the same day if not the same hour, I post every weekday on my social media’s, and I treat all my customers as if they are family. I believe because I operate this way is why I have over half my customers always come back and buy another bonnet from me and leave great reviews!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I hand-make all my bonnets myself in bulk and I take custom requests! A person can come to me with the most unique bonnet with words and pictures and I’ll create it for them! It is never easy having a business and putting everything together on your own, yet I have a great support system behind me who helps put my business out there which takes the load off. Even if I didn’t get an order every week, every other week, or every other month, I still promoted every day because I learned consistency is key to having a business. I want everyone to know that my bonnets are different in style and comfort, they last, and stay on all night, I made my bonnets to represent any girl or women that is wearing them personalized to them!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sunday Funday is where it’s at in Dallas! Some spots I enjoy are Harris House Of Heroes, Dibs on victory, Gaslight, and Yardbird! Bars On Oaklawn are more like hangout spots so it’s always a great vibe with a Dj and some bites on the weekends!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
People from Facebook! Since I started a personal Facebook and business Facebook last year, my sales have jumped! From being shared, and word of mouth really helps keep the sales consistent even if I don’t promote myself!
