We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmin Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmin, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think as a parent, the most important thing I’ve shown my children is the ability to identify my gift & capitalize on it. Growing up, it was drilled into us that you go to school, find a job, work until you retire & that was what success looked like. Even on career day, I don’t remember interacting with many entrepreneurs, if any. I think we’re starting to see a shift, where parents encourage multiple options that lead to ‘success’. I still expect my children to go to college (my alma mater, of course), however, I also show interest in their natural, God given talents & let them know that those talents can become a viable source of income as well. There is no one road to success & corporate America is not the only way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always tell people I fell into entrepreneurship but getting here was not easy & it took me a long time to accept that this is what I was made for. Along the way, I’ve learned to be flexible, innovative & personable. People support your brand because they support YOU.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Unfortunately, I’m pretty much a homebody when I’m in town so we’d definitely have to take a trip to a place I frequent for me to be a good tour guide lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my parents, my beautiful daughters: Karmyn & Kynlei, my beloved Alma Mater – The Florida A&M University, & my circle of friends, family & supporters and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
