We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Freed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I personally believe the most important factor behind the success i’ve had is my determination and the support system around me. Without those two factors I don’t think I would have come this far. After all if I am keeping it real, it’s very rare that many people accomplish what I did at my age. That being said, the ability to make it happen is there for everyone willing to work for it! But the process isn’t easy, it doesn’t happen quick, and it isn’t pretty. However it’s worth every bit of sweat, sacrifice, and energy you put in to get there. The hardest part will always be getting started, and thats where the support system comes in. Surround yourself only with those who cheer you on and want it for you just as bad as you want it for yourself. For me that was/is my husband Tyler and my family. They have seen the hard work, sacrifice, and time I have put in each and every day to getting where I am now. When I have doubts, they push me and have encouraged me every step of the way from the very start. So to anyone starting out on their own weight loss/ fitness journey, find a great support system and become determined. When you do that, nothing can or will stand in your way!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means a professional when it comes to weight loss or fitness. I am simply someone who has been there and actually done it myself, with no help. Some people have reached out to me and called me for advice, tips, workouts, etc. And I am always happy to help and encourage others who are working on their own journey. Because I have been there, I know how they are feeling, what they’re thinking, and how hard it is when you’re doing it yourself. So all I aim to do is help them, in anyway I can. Even if it’s just words of encouragement or sharing my workout routine with them. I want anyone and everyone on that same journey to reach the success level I did, because that’s what they are shooting for. We all deserve to accomplish our goals, no matter when or how we start. But professionally regarding my work, I am actually a nanny. I am in my last years of obtaining my bachelor’s degree in education. I am working my booty off for another goal these days and that is to become a kindergarten teacher! If the lord calls on me and decides to use me for fitness focused postion, I don’t think I would object. That door just hasn’t opened yet.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Dallas Tx, more so in the Rockwall area to be specific. I am also not really a “night life” type person. Therefore my idea of fun would be something like going to a concert, going for a hike, or eating at a new up and coming restaurant. So if I had friends coming I would most likely take them to; – Billy Bob’s in Ft. Worth for a country concert or some drinks with live entertainment. – Reunion Tower for a spectacular view of Dallas and the skyline. – Cedar Ridge Preserve for a nice hike with some pretty views. I am sure many other Dallas residents know far more cooler places to go, but those are a few or my personal favorites.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my husband, without a doubt. He always pushes me to be the best version of myself in all aspects. But not in a “you’re not good enough as you are way”. He instead knows there are certain days where I am not giving or putting my all into things and he will remind me of my potential. Days where I don’t feel like stepping in the gym he will ask me what’s making me feel unmotivated. Then acknowledges the progress I have made and gives me the motivation to get up and knock that run out. The moments where I feel overwhelmed, there he is to remind me of all my accomplishments thus far and how success isn’t for the weak or the ones who just want to be “comfortable”. He is by far my biggest cheerleader and greatest motivator.
