We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, making friends as an adult isn’t easy. Any advice or experiences you can share?
As we grow up and away from school friends it seems most lives drift apart. New groups of friends are formed. The best way to make a new friend is to find common interest. No matter where I am at, I seem to make conversation and it leads to common interests. My go-to is kids. We are so involved with our kids activities from softball, cheer and gymnastics its easy to make friends with people who are there supporting their kids as well. The main concept in any scenario is to say hello to someone. Create conversation. Nobody sits back and puts in their headphones makes friends. Don’t be afraid to initiate the beginning of a friendship that could last a lifetime.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Troy Dunn Insurance is an independent agency specializing in finding the best value on our clients home and auto insurance. The biggest difference in us is we are directly appointed with our carriers. What that means for the client is we are the contacts. There is no back office 800 number to call when you have questions. Kristy and I are the only call to make. We are committed to servicing our customers. Kristy is our renewal specialist and is shopping around 30 days in advance to contact our customers at every renewal to make sure they are getting the best value possible. We have had so many things to be proud of, but receiving the Community Spirit Award from the Chamber in 2018 was an unexpected honor. Since I first received my insurance license in 1997, I have made every mistake possible. The lesson is to make sure you learn from every mistake to not repeat. We are committed to being the ones you trust for your insurance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When anyone comes to visit us here in Texas, there are a few musts that we would plan. Golf at Dallas National, an afternoon walk or bike ride along the Trinity Trails, of course a few nights in the Stockyards, and a trip to Sundance Square. Texas has to have some BBQ so Riskys in the Stockyards, Shady Oaks in Fossil Creek, Berrys Best BBQ in Watauga and Railhead in Fort Worth. And the best Chicken Fried Steak at Lucilles on Camp Bowie is a can’t miss.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The success of our business is the product of my networking partners and friends in the Northeast Tarrant Chamber. The leadership in the Chamber from Jack Bradshaw, Ellen McEwen and Heidi Seely is what has made us who we are.. They are truly promoting business in the community but so much more. As members we have been involved in learning how to do a business plan, networking correctly and building relationships. The mentorship and leadership is what sets the Northeast Tarrant Chamber apart. Networking partners are the result of the culture created inside the Chamber. The friends we have made through the Chamber have been invaluable to us.
