Meet Linny Nance: Artist Musician performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Linny Nance and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linny, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I knew you had a very early age that I wanted to pursue a career in music. All my older brothers were great examples of what to do and all of the examples they showed me through their friends and colleagues we’re also great examples and inspirations

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist (keyboards/vocals/multi instrumentalist) producer, composer and production company/studio owner. I lead a band called Linny Nance & Network.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
With COVID-19 things a lot different but I would definitely recommend The Freeman Cajun café I Deep Ellum for great music and food. Then I’d say go by Reveler’s Hall in Bishop Arts District. Pre Covid-19 I’d say check out the Balcony Club in Lakewood. Jazz Becuzz is a great place as well helping to keep the music going in the community through education. Sandaga 813 is a cool spot to check out great music and BBQ. PopupDFW is another great venue for food and music. For burgers Snuffer’s is my favorite. Campisi’s for Italian. BlackJack Pizza for everything

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are several people who have helped to get me to where I am as an artist and a man. As I stated my family is the most important part of my development. In particular my older brother Brent Nance was the one I most wanted to be like growing up. He was the greatest at everything. A percussionist/multi instrumentalist/ composer-producer/teacher/ dancer/ chef. Just a beautiful person. He passed away in 2017 and I miss him every day. Another person I met and worked with from 1986 to his passing in 2020 is The Prince of the Blues Lucky Peterson. We toured the world together and every moment with him was a priceless experience. Next I would say that Bernard Wright is another me or and friend that every moment spent with him is a learning experience. I learn so much from everyone I meet but in particular the experience I gained and relationships I’ve developed from James Ingram, Yarbrough & Peoples, Pamela Williams , Tutu Jones & Tom Braxton are all a part of the person I am today.
