Meet Dommini Guein: Founder/Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dommini Guein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dommini, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, after I noticed that my creativity was just a part of who I am I wanted to share it. I have a natural understanding and love for art and productions, so I’m not really doing anything that I haven’t been doing since knee-high. I was trying to figure out how to make my passion my paycheck but I couldn’t be everywhere and doing all of the arts at once. That’s how my camera came into play. I was forced to pick one of my arts so I chose the art of capturing other artists. Then boom, I share my art, you share your art and let’s get creative!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
How I got to where I am today professionally is the same thing that sets me apart from others – I operate from the inside out. Once you have a solid understanding of who you are the only thing you need to do is figure out how you would like to present yourself to the world. How do you do you? Ask yourself what you have to offer and then put some confidence to it so you can offer it. I am a firm believer in this so I carry this belief with me with in all that I do. That’s why I am able to direct talent well because I articulate how to tap into yourself, rather than tell you play-by-play on how to conduct your artistry. No one can do you better than you. Your art strengthens you, while a better version of yourself strengthens your art. So who are you? How do you do you? That’s where I began to appreciate life differently; when I understood I am the only person in control of my living.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
See I like different energies so I don’t know lol I guess it would depend on the friend but I’d say if they were similar to myself we would have to find a lowkey area. Somewhere with some street art, hidden gems and good food. Any place outside you can hear some live musicians on the corners and the sound of community in the background you’ll probably see me there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want shine to shine light on the University of Missouri-Columbia, my alma mater, and my high school, Southwest DeKalb High. I have witnessed an impeccable amount of talent, work-ethic and black excellence from my peers at these institutions. It’s surreal to be surrounded and molded by so much greatness and great experiences from these extended families. I’m proud of us, y’all!
