We had the good fortune of connecting with Myesha Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myesha, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by success stories. I’m surrounded by successful people in business as many of my family and friends are entrepreneurs. They keep me motivated and give me something to aspire to. It makes success tangible and not just a dream. 

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My education and training is in nursing. I have a master’s degree in nursing with a certification in the specialty of women’s health. I get passionate about empowering women, in all aspects of their lives. Now, as an Independent Stylist with Color Street, I have another avenue to do what I’m passionate about. On the surface, Color Street looks like “just nail polish”. In reality, Color Street is self care, it’s confidence and independence. Women everywhere are building businesses and becoming financially stable and independent with a stylish manicure! It’s amazing! Nothing worth having is without challenges and hard work. This business requires persistence and getting out of your comfort zone to grow. I’m a creature of habit, I love my comfort zone! So this business has stretched me and brought out hidden talents and I’m glad about it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh my goodness! I’m a foodie at heart and Dallas has some of the best food! When friends comes to town I have a whole line up of places to try. Lockhart Smokehouse in Bishop Arts District is a must for anyone visiting. It’s absolutely the best BBQ in town. Then take a walk down the street stop in some shops and end up at Emporium Pies for dessert. Gloria’s has the best mojito, it’s mandatory for my mom to stop there when she visits from Ohio. Kylde Warren park is the best for being outdoors people watching, eating from food trucks and jumping through sprinklers with the kids. Spending some time in Trinity Groves for drinks on the rooftop of Saint Rocco’s for fabulous view of the city (great food too) and Cake Bar for dessert can’t be left off of the to do list. If there’s time, a day spent at the Perot Museum is well worth it, for kids and adults!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Two of my very best friends have branched out from more traditional careers to build businesses. Sylvia Jones is an optometrist and created a multi level marketing company, Violet Eyewear, from the bottom up. Ambrea Mikolajczyk was once in pharmaceutical sales with a real estate investment side hustle, and is now the owner of ARK Restoration and Construction, revitalizing my hometown one project after the other. These ladies are moms like me, young like me and minorities. Nothing stops them! I couldn’t be more proud and inspired.
