We had the good fortune of connecting with Loreen Silva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Loreen, how do you think about risk?
I guess it started when I was a young child with my mother who with her legacy gave me many many gifts but being fearful and afraid in certain areas of her life gave me fuel to take risks. That has always resonated with me. As I have went through life I remembered that and used it as something I did NOT want to do. I have always knew what I wanted in life but had to be patient and bide my time.I made ALOT of pro and con lists and worked with like minded people in goal setting which essentially helped me to make calculated risks. That combined with heavily relying on God made it almost a no brainer to take the risk because I always believe the risk is bigger than the reward. The role of risk taking has made me feel powerful.
What should our readers know about your business?
The main takeaway is that we truly care about out guests. Being a small family owned operation truly gives us the ability to connect with our guests on a personal level from personalized thank you cards, to customized essentials based on personal conversations with our guests to the extent of when they walk in our doors they know that we care about them. Our properties are all close to one another each with its own unique vibe and style but we also give guests that down home feel which is ideal for visiting friends and family to connect with one another. – I am very proud of the repeat guests, referrals and reviews we receive from our guests with their kind words which tells me that I am bringing joy to others with their stay. -I am always excited to meet new guests that stay with us from all over the world. I believe I am where I’m at today in business by God’s grace, setting goals, working hard, support from others and not taking no for answer. -It was easy sometimes and sometimes not. -I overcame challenges through prayer, support from others, and to never lose sight of my goals. – Lessons I have learned along the way is that you can have it all if you dream it! Don’t lose site of the little things. -World.. I want people to know that they matter to me. Wether the encounter is fleeting or long term they know I genuinely care about them and I believe that follows through in The Villas of Ovilla brand tenfold.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start in Ovilla, TX. I would take them to the Shell station for a tasty and cheap breakfast burrito and then walk over to the park and enjoy the quaint town. We would head over to Waxahachie to shop and eat at The Dove’s Nest or Atkins Seafood. Then a trip north to the Dallas Zoo. We would head to La Calle Dolce for an authentic dinner and then towards Bishop Arts for more shopping and pie at The emporium of Pies. One day I would enjoy time with my friend at The Villas of Ovilla and stroll down to the 100 year old cemetery near the property. At night we would walk to downtown Ovilla and get a BBQ baked potato at Franks BBQ and then a glass of wine at the Cassaro winery. A few of the other highlights of the trip would be going to Dallas for a $14.99 pork chop lunch at Perry’s Steakhouse ,enjoying the Famers Market, taking a personal limo tour of Dallas including JFK sight, getting a unique view of the city atop The Soda Bar off Lamar, and grabbing a late night taco and elotes at The Fuel city gas station!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to say a HUGE shoutout to my mom! She was my biggest cheerleader. Shoutout to a few of my bosses who became mentors along the way. They were men who truly believed in promoting based on your hard work/achievements and equality which paved the way to my success. Loyal friends and family who were encouragers and prayer partners. My two sons because having them gave me inspiration to always strive to be better and provide the best lives for them. Shoutout to Pittsburgh, PA and the hard working family that I come from instilling the importance values hard work!
