We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Denworth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My work ethic has been the foundation of my success. Instilled in me by my mother, a single mom raising two boys, it taught me that if you want something, you must work hard for it. By putting in late nights earning extra money through freelance opportunities and finding ways to outwork the competition, I’ve set myself up to succeed. I wouldn’t be an Art Director for the Texas Rangers and a professional photographer if it weren’t for the work ethic she instilled in me. I wouldn’t have started my business, wouldn’t have opened doors to incredible opportunities from designing the USA Rugby 2024 Olympics campaign to photographing the New Zealand All Blacks against Fiji. Outwork those around you, surround yourself with like-minded people, and you’ll find success in all areas of life. Also, a mindset I live by is “Swim or swim; there is no sinking.” No one ever said it would be easy. There have been times I felt like I was barely staying afloat, but by pushing through, the storms eventually pass, and brighter days follow.

I also attribute much of my success to building strong relationships. Opportunities, from photographing weddings and product photography, to capturing sports at the collegiate and professional levels, have transpired through the connections I’ve made. These relationships and connections can provide those opportunities and even open doors you never thought possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m currently the Art Director for the Texas Rangers, where I oversee the brand identity and visual creative for the organization. But my journey started much earlier, back when I was a graphic designer for the rugby apparel brand Canterbury North America. That role taught me so much—from designing rugby uniforms and shooting product photography to creating the 2019 Rugby World Cup uniforms for both the U.S. and Canadian national teams. When the brand was eventually shut down by its parent company, I shifted gears and joined Astek Wallcovering Inc., designing large-scale murals for hotels, corporations, and Hollywood production sets.

Still, I knew my heart was in sports. When the chance came to move back home and work for my hometown team, the San Diego Padres, I jumped at it. I worked my way up from graphic designer to manager of design, leading the brand and campaign development each season and finding ways to blend photography and design into one strong creative voice. My time with the Padres set me up for that next big step and when the opportunity came along, I knew I was ready and had to take it.

Looking back, I’m really proud of the path that got me here. It wasn’t always smooth, full of bumps, twists, and late nights, but every step taught me something valuable. It’s been a journey full of learning, growth, and memories I’ll always hold onto. The journey isn’t over yet and I’m more excited than ever for what’s ahead.

It’s taken a lot of hard work, constant learning, and the belief that I could always push myself a little further. Having the mindset to stay curious, confident, and driven has been key to where I am today. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been a lot of fun and full of experiences that shaped who I am both personally and professionally.

I’ve learned to always bet on myself, add value wherever I can, take risks, build meaningful relationships, and most importantly, enjoy the ride along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friends and I would kick off our adventure by enjoying some craft beverages at Manhattan Project Brewing, then make our way to Hurtado’s BBQ in Arlington before heading to a Texas Rangers baseball game. Since many of them haven’t been to Texas before, I’d take them to the Fort Worth Stockyards to catch a rodeo and watch the cattle drive. Because we’re all pretty adventurous and love the outdoors, we’d take a road trip down to Big Bend National Park to camp, hike, and stargaze while photographing the Milky Way galaxy. We’d head back to Dallas and stop by Katy Trail Icehouse before wrapping up the trip with a Dallas Stars game.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my amazing fiancé Carly, my mother Kathy, my brother Austin, my uncle Obie, and my aunt Mary. I also want to thank my best friends and everyone who believed in me, who supported, challenged me to do more and held me accountable. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I would be or the type of man I am to this day.
