We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhotena Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhotena, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
To never give up on your dreams. Anything is possible when you put your mindset to it and keep believing in yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In the beginning, doing hair wasn’t easy—it took a lot of patience, practice, and trust in myself. The challenge was learning that it’s not just about cutting or coloring, it’s about understanding people, listening to what they want, and giving them the confidence to love their look. I overcame those challenges by staying consistent, growing in my education skills, taking classes, and reminding myself to never give up. With each client, I gained more skill, more confidence, and more passion for this career I love. The lessons I’ve learned is patience is key, listening matters, great hair and growth takes time, I want the world to know with 16years of this industry I pour my heart out into everything I do, especially behind the chair. I want the world to know that I live with passion, love, and dedication in everything I do. I believe in connecting with people, lifting them up, and showing kindness wherever I go. Life is about growth, empathy, and celebrating the beauty in ourselves and others—and that’s what I try to bring to every moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say Truckyard in Alliance, Fort Worth. They have great drinks, very chilled, relaxed, and outdoor patios to hangout. And as for entertainment Artetti Indoor Karting and Games. Great to have some adult fun or with kids.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I just want to take a big shout out to my amazing husband Eleazar Garcia. Thanks to him for always being my biggest support, always cheering me on, from late night at the salon, to listening to my ideas, and to encouraging me to keep my passion. Your love and belief keep pushing me to keep growing in my career. Being a hairstylist is so much more than just hair—it’s long hours, constant learning, and pouring so much love into what I do. Through it all, you’ve been my biggest cheerleader, my steady support, and the one reminding me why I love this career. Thank you for standing by me and believing in my dreams. I couldn’t do it without you.
